The original VHS Cover for The Android Invasion…

When the TARDIS materialises just outside a sleepy English village, it appears the Doctor and Sarah Jane are nearly “home” at last.

But all is not as it seems in rural paradise. White suited, gun wielding guards stalk the countryside, while the village itself is eerily deserted.

As the Doctor and Sarah look on, a UNIT member leaps over a cliff to his death and, as the clock strikes twelve, the local pub is suddenly filled with strangely robotic villagers.

The UNIT member is amongst them, very much alive. What exactly is happening here?

The Doctor is mystified, setting off for UNIT HQ in search of the answers. There, with the Brigadier away, Senior Defence Astronaut Guy Crayford holds court.

But just who is his shadowy master, the Thraal, Styggron? Indeed, who are the Thraals and what have they got in store for the Earth? Why has the TARDIS dematerialised seemingly of its own accord?

The Doctor must move quickly to find the truth, for the very future of mankind hangs in the balance… Originally transmitted 22 November -13 December 1975, this four part story starring Tom Baker as the Doctor and Elizabeth Sladen as his assistant, was the last UNIT adventure for fourteen years, until “Battlefield” with Sylvester Me Coy in 1989.

The original VHS Cover for The Invasion of The Dinosaurs…

Arriving back on modern-day Earth, the Doctor and Sarah discover London is deserted and under martial law.

They eventually find an army patrol, but are arrested as looters, and are sent to a detention centre as prisoners.

But as their journey begins, their transport comes under attack by a tyrannosaurus rex. Dinosaurs have invaded London!

UNIT has been called in to assist the army with the running of the city, and to try and find a solution to the problem.

Released from captivity, the Doctor takes up his old role of UNIT’S scientific advisor in order to help try and discover why dinosaurs keep appearing and disappearing from London’s streets.

The Doctor suspects a deliberate plan is causing the dinosaur menace, but who is behind the scheme?

Who amongst his allies can be trusted? And when Sarah vanishes, just how does she find herself on a spaceship carrying hundreds of people in suspended intimation towards a new life on a distant new earth. This story was broadcast on BBc1 between 12th January and 16th February 1974

It has just recently come out so its very unlikely that you will find it much lower than the RRP, but in a month or two it could be slightly reduced

Trying to win the Android Invasion on ebay, man is it proving hard.

While there is alot of this story being sold individually, there is so much demand for it, it’s almost impossible to get the winning bid !

Hope I do win it eventually though, just like I won Snakedance, and the Awakening on DVD. 😉

I think it would be really good to have a Sarah Jane figure from ‘The Android Invasion’ because then it could come with a removeable face. Maybe an Android Invasion figure set would be nice with a kraal, android, doctor and Sarah Jane.

I hear they’ve made a set for the Seeds of Doom, which contains no companion, but a Doctor and Krynoid figure !

Will get it if they have done anything different to the Doctor figure, such as a different scarf scult (like the one from City of Death) or a different face.

Maybe a better colour scheme to make the Jacket more screen-accurate. 🙂 ❗

But if it’s exactly the same as the figure from 11 Doctors set, forget about it character, no deal. 😡 ❗

When this first came out on TV back in the day; I have strong memories of this being rather creepy, when the spaceship wasn’t really a spaceship. RAAARRGH! Help! Help! A t-Rex . . . Having watched it again now, I wet myself laughing with that T-Rex & Brontasaurus fight. RAAARRGH! Happy days . . .

I feel the sequence of events is wrong though, really they should have just ignored the Doctor’s storyline until the reveal that they were not actually on the spaceship. Kind of wrecks the suprise.

It does not happen often with DVD/video, but here are two occasions:-

The Deadly Assassin was released on VHS in the States before the UK had it.

The Key to Time was available for years in the States before we had it. I bought mine on a trip there in 2003. When they did release in the UK, they limited it to 15000 and it sells out, ironically resulting in a slightly different re-release.

The cost of restoring it for blu ray is more than the money 2e would make on selling it. Plus Picture quality cant be improved much over the dvd version and Its not financially viable and prohibitly expensive so it probably wont happen.

I am so looking forward to getting hold of invasion of the dinosaurs. I know that the dinosaur effects are pretty bad by 1974 standards but its a fantastic story that stands up today. Not so much looking forward to android invasion. Android invasion starts off well and the effects are good for its time but there are far too many plot holes that ruin my enjoyment of it.

I had a good look at this Invasion of the Dinosaurs story, and quite liked it. However, I still won’t be getting the story, the Dinosaur effects are mostly quite poor, and Jon Pertees venusian Karate at the story’s conclusion is just too over the top. (

The Android Invasion I will be trying to get on ebay, no matter how long, no matter how many attempts it takes, I will get it, just like the Awakening. 😉

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 was released on Friday just gone and Alice In Wonderland was released on a Friday But yeah Monday is the normal UK release date for DVDs (and blu rays) and CDs and Friday is the normal UK release date for games (mostly). I’m not too sure about the 2nd January considering it falls right after new years day and all that. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see then. 🙂

I just want to point out Just because wikepidia lists something doesnt make it fact or official. Wikepidia can be edited by anybody and ive lost count the ammount of times its been wrong. Its only been listed because the director has said on the galifrey base forum he is getting it ready for a possible dvd release. There are rights issues and paperwork to be sorted with the director and 2/e first before it can go into production. And if it does go ahead it will possibly paired with shada.

      October 18th, 2011 - 12:27pm

And i am hoping 2e manage to do a deal so we get ian lavines animated version he recently finished. Either that or we will be stuck with the vhs version of it. No offence to tom but him narrating the gaps just put me off.

Its Wikia, not Wikapedia, and it has been confirmed!!

    • gordon

      October 19th, 2011 - 12:15am

Wikia is more or less the same as wikepidia except different people invented it. And the source that wikia have for listing it is the same post from galifrey base forum that i quoted from

From kevin davies Quote:I am reding it for a dvd release but with at least 18 months to go, it’s still very much at the discussion stage.documentaries are a nightmare to clear I only hope that 2E’s contacts in the BBC can do the necessary paperwork for the proposed ‘30 Yrs’ DVD in time!

I would say that is not 100 percent official
