    • booboo

      August 12th, 2019 - 10:17am

no last communication was towards the end of August, some stock has arrived but not all, down to B&M when its sent out to stores which they don’t seem to want to tell us at the moment

Just called my store and they said that they usually get an email about new who stock ready to prepare a section for it and they haven’t had that yet, so they’re not coming yet apparently 🙁

This set looks really good. Will be doing a review when I open it later. The 5th Doctors Tardis is really nice. Glad we have more Tardiss’ . Nice touch on the windows of the Shada Tardis

    • booboo

      August 5th, 2019 - 9:43am

Its an established list, for the most part consisting of long term reviewers, its only around 10 people for goodness sake, you don’t get free stuff just because you have a Facebook page, there wasn’t all this nonsense when the 13th Doctor came out and all the same people got that.

Leave it now its become rather silly.

      August 6th, 2019 - 4:00pm

Are the Tardis releases limited edition? If so I doubt they will be in B&M stores long. I’m certain the two Tardis sets will sell out first.

No worries, good to know they are as good in person though. Hard to tell from Promo Pictures sometimes.

    • Who Knows

      August 1st, 2019 - 2:25pm

They’ve taken Peri’s arms from the versions in the vengeance on varos set and attack of the cyber men pack and placed it on the caves of androzani figure base – she should have had hand appendages attached . . . Looks really weird, they might do a revision set in the new year like the ones from the last range in order to rectify this issue.

    • booboo

      August 1st, 2019 - 2:28pm

      bet they wont

    • Who Knows

      August 1st, 2019 - 2:51pm

The 2nd Doctor & Stike are very impressive, I hope the line continues – it’s affordable, creative and consistent.

    • Anonymous

      August 1st, 2019 - 4:29pm

The Stike figure looks better than the actual character. His neck was slightly jagged in the actual story and at one point you can even see the cut-off at the bottom of the sontaran mask.

The head sculpt is amazing, I love the facial hair. I was torn between this and the Harry/Lynx/Stryre set, but now my mind is made up.

    • The Critic

      August 1st, 2019 - 5:26pm

Crikey they ARE long arms. Jesus.

    • booboo

      August 1st, 2019 - 7:19pm

they are, I’m assuming there is a reason they had to be like this to get this figure out however i thinks by far the best Peri of the 4.

Its not so bad in hand you don’t really notice that much

    • Anonymous

      August 2nd, 2019 - 7:01pm

Yeah the arms are a little on the long side but that must be the only way to create the figure. Besides it’s not that noticeable unless she is with her other versions

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2019 - 7:08pm

its not as bad as it looks in hand to be honest, i didn’t really notice until some one pointed it out

    • Geeker Things

Those 3 figures look very great. 🙂

    • Geeker Things

      August 2nd, 2019 - 10:36pm

Booboo may I ask if reviewers in the United States will get these? I am a toy photographer, reviewer, and youtuber and am curious as to how to get this in the US. Thanks for the info.

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2019 - 11:02pm

as Character can no longer supply to the USA i doubt it, that’s seven20’s domain now

    • Geeker Things

      August 3rd, 2019 - 7:02am

Ah bummer. I absolutely despise Seven20 LOL. Terrible figures, terrible company, and they still can’t even manage to ship or release their preorders well after a year. I’m not sure why they even picked up the license since they’re doing anything with it.

Thanks for the info Booboo, one more question I have is if it’s possible for Character Options to look into Entertainment Earth supplying the b&m DW sets because they’re an online distributor only? Maybe I’ll just have to look to eBay I guess. Thanks for the info though. 🙂

    • booboo

      August 3rd, 2019 - 9:02am

Seven20 never answer emails or anything on social media they are terrible, no one seems to want to take responsibility as whats actually happening with the 13th Doctor

    • The Outcast

      August 3rd, 2019 - 10:47am

Honestly, I think the best thing Seven20 could do at this point is do a deal with CO to distribute their Doctor Who products in the States. The Character Options 13th Doctor figure looks far better than either Seven20 version, and, unlike Seven20’s, has actually come out.

    • booboo

      August 3rd, 2019 - 10:53am

CO will never deal with seven20 (ex UT) there was obviously some considerable ill feeling there.

Perhaps CO can find another way into the USA market, BBC licensing should look at seven20’s /toots conduct as far as the 13th is concerned they have had peoples money for a year now and are not responding to anyone.

    • The ergon

      August 3rd, 2019 - 8:00pm

Theres a bit too much exposure with regards to images, that by the time they get to the stores and we do get these, a lot of the novelty tends to wear off and felt like i,ve already owned them. Its difficult though as i for one rely on sites like this to get any breaking news on mostly a daily basis and you can,t do nothing but look.

    • booboo

      August 3rd, 2019 - 8:09pm

i know what you mean, I’ve shown a couple of images in the comments but there are reviews all over youtube covering all the sets.

The official images have to posted when the press release goes out, we have no control over that, its never actually happened this way before.

    • booboo

      August 4th, 2019 - 1:17pm

its because many have been sent multiple sets so multiple reviews, your just noticing them more because of that probably.

all the same people got the 13th Doctor as far as i know.

we didn’t get the Harry set so can’t compare old to new yet until we get to buy one but we can put the Sontarans together

we don’t tend to do reviews as such just pictures and i will add them as and when to the listings when all complete

    • masterdoctorten

      August 8th, 2019 - 10:06am

Would there have been any way (without major retooling) to give her bare arms from the biceps down, that might have looked better if possible?

    • booboo

      August 8th, 2019 - 10:28am

no sure what the reasoning is behind this although I’m sure there is one, sometimes tooling is altered to accommodate a new figure and its not possible to change it back, could be something like that

Having got the 13 Doctors set, I’m glad that old 2nd Doctor is at least a slight variant, and the last Sontaran is done! We can finally have all 7 Sontarans! (Although I need Stor)

Why is peri midriff blue, such a silly decsion

but will be buying this set, 5th doctor set, and Harry sontaron set

    VERY happy with these

    • Bobby Davros

      August 1st, 2019 - 12:43am

Peri is a simple repaint of the Caves of Androzani version which had an ugly midsection joined to her pink shorts, screen accurate to the actresses outfit during the studio sessions. The good news is this soft plastic can easily be removed with a scalpel which is what I did with the earlier figure.

  • Ian O’Brien

Stop moaning folks! Considering how any new merchandise has to have rainbows on with the 13th Dr I am delighted by these. Remember a few years ago most sets were just slight repaints and in some cases no difference.

    • booboo

      The two doctors

Surely it would’ve made more sense for the Sontaran to be Varl? As he would be the right size?

Still, irrespective of that, I’m hyped for this set. Even if it just sits in its’ box on my shelf, I’ll be happy to pick one up.

  • whovian

    • TARDIS_H63

More than the previous 3 figure sets??

  • David

    July 30th, 2019 - 6:39pm

I guess having Stike the correct size would have been asking too much….

    • Sauvix

      July 30th, 2019 - 7:09pm

I plan to buy 2 of this set. One to leave it how it is (could be Varl) and another to customize Stike.

    • Bobby Davros

      July 30th, 2019 - 7:23pm

He’s clearly taller than Troughton in the box. His body is obviously a reuse of the Invasion of Time Sontaran so he is the right size. That picture against a white background does not show the figures to scale.

    • Gareth Pugh

      July 30th, 2019 - 7:59pm

It would – that would involve a complete re-sculpt, re-mould and retooling and add (rumour once had it) at least 15,000-20,000 pounds to the development budget. The old days of FP exclusives could cover that (up to a point) but they’ve said the margin model with the B&M contracts certainly can’t. We’ve done incredibly well to get new head sculpts to create Harry Sullivan and Styke, given that.

    • Ollie

      July 31st, 2019 - 5:49am

The Stike head sculpt is really impressive. However, he doesn’t need the helmet at all. I would’ve preferred him to come with either his laser weapon (the long straw like one similar to Linx) or a night stick that I think he carried around. They could even do a variation of him covered in green slime.

The Troughton figure is good but we’ve already had a ‘Two Doctors’ variation of him. Could they have put a grey top hat on him, like the one the Matt Smith figure has on ‘The Impossible Girl’ set?

Not sure why they’ve painted Peri’s midriff blue either…

All in all, I think it’s a great set but it could’ve just been slightly better.

    • booboo

      July 31st, 2019 - 7:30am

i suppose it depends on what accessories are in the tooling block, if the helmet is in it and it cant be sectioned off then they would all end up in the bin i suppose

Also its the Androgum version of the 2nd Doctor as in the story so a valid variant

    • Ollie

      July 31st, 2019 - 9:20am

I knew it was an Androgum version. I would have just preferred this version.
      https://i1.wp.com/olddoctorwho.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/wpid-the-two-doctors-troughton-shockeye.jpg

    • booboo

      July 31st, 2019 - 9:37am

probably no top hat in the tooling block so never going to happen, even if they had one the block probably has many other parts that would just have to be ditched so not economical

This is what can be in a block

Putting it simply If a top hat were in there, all the other bits would have to be discarded so its just not possible.

this is why things that people wish for just aren’t possible sometimes.

  • Frumious Bandersnatch

    July 30th, 2019 - 6:25pm

Still wish they sold the figures indivually like most others on the market.

  • Frumious Bandersnatch

    July 30th, 2019 - 6:24pm

Instantly recognizable as Stike. Pity they didnt box up Shockeye instead of Peri.

    • The ergon

      July 30th, 2019 - 6:34pm

Which bodyparts could they reuse for a shockeye?

    • Frumious Bandersnatch

      July 30th, 2019 - 6:53pm

Some ‘new stuff’ might have been nice – why does every last figure have to be a reuse. Howver Im sure they have plenty of John Barrowman and pig slave figures they could meltdown 😀

    • booboo

      July 30th, 2019 - 7:16pm

because the tooling block which contains all the figure parts cost 10’s of thousands to manufacture then there is a new automated production line to program, paint masks, paint mixes etc and B&M budgets wont get you any of that for a whole new figure.

Trust me Al Dewar has gone the extra mile this time and will continue to do so to give us what we have in these budget sets. No so long ago these sets were all just re-releases with not even repaints

    • Bicky

      July 30th, 2019 - 7:15pm

      Don’t forget Laszlo!!

    • Bobby Davros

      July 30th, 2019 - 9:47pm

I suppose they could have used Lazlos work overalls body for Jamie in his demented state when he attacks Peri in the space station.

    • The ergon

      July 31st, 2019 - 12:53pm

It never made much sense why jamie ended up demented, and why he was skulking around in the background making those menacing gurgling noises or even why he would attack peri. Nothing traumatised him that way before. I would like the figure all the same if they could do it.

    • Bobby Davros

      July 31st, 2019 - 2:21pm

They just wanted a cliffhanger for part 1.

  • Daz

    July 30th, 2019 - 6:21pm

The Androgum 2nd Doctor is a pretty cool figure that shows that the makers of these have a love for them as a product and want to give fans something new.
Peri’s weird 80’s top looks cool and I want a Sontaran so this set would be nice.

    • The ergon

      July 31st, 2019 - 12:00am

      July 30th, 2019 - 3:55pm

not missed at all, to expensive at this stage I’m amazed what they have been able to pull off here considering the budgets for these sets

    • whovian

      July 30th, 2019 - 10:49pm

Any chance they could scrap Peri and either add another Sontaran, (which looks the part), or just reduce it to a two pack. Or they could add Harry to this set as well. I don’t get Patrick Troughton’s eyebrows though, why have they been painted red?

    • booboo

      July 31st, 2019 - 7:24am

its the Androgum 2nd Doctor as in the story

    • Anonymous

      July 31st, 2019 - 2:34am

What parts could you reuse for Jamie though? The head, Kilt and legs would all deffo have to be brand new pieces (we’ve never even had a male figure with any sorts of exposed legs before) The torso would be lovely to get new too, but I could see them using a generic shirt, which I feel they could get away with for his looks from some stories, and again I’m sure the arms could be reused from something else…

      …Who knows?
