Yes, looking at the advertising sheet; it show’s an 11th. Doctor Costume Card & a common card of the 1st. Doctor. Seem’s they are releasing another Starter Pack for this set of 152 cards on 17th. October? I’m a bit confused about the ‘Updated Collector’s Edition’ blurb but don’t know if this is a follow-up set or continuation from the previous release? Again, still no idea of the percentages per box – Especially as it is now £50 a box?

    • lewis chawner

      October 18th, 2013 - 9:44pm

theyare not £50 i asked they are still £24 a box

  • Braddy

    August 19th, 2013 - 4:59pm

Each case of 50 packs is going for £50. Does anybody have any idea of the ratio of how many costume cards per case or cases??

i dont know anything about these cards sorry, topps completely ignore us so i’m not even going to bother to try to find out anything form them will have to wait until more info turns up on-line

    • Radburn

      August 22nd, 2013 - 4:59am

Even if it is just 1 costume card per box you would have to spend a minimum of £350 to get the 7 costume cards. Of course you may only get 3 & then two lots of repeats which would be awful! I think this is going to be too expensive for most people – Especially to guarantee a full set of 152 cards…

      October 15th, 2013 - 4:51pm

For the costume cards it is limited to 1 in every 75 packs! 🙁

The prices could also vary if swatch contains a button or button hole they can go for upwards of hundred. If for instance iT’s a tie there will be no more than 150 of that variant. But I have seen all this before with csi and 007 farscape and mostly any card.

Topps would have had to have bought garments from 7 of the Doctors; the other Doctors would have been too expensive or unavailable.

Garments worn by Doctors fetch many thousands of pounds which starts to elevate the cost of production.

Costume cards have been around for years; Strictly Ink did various costume cards such as Vogon costume or Androzani Guard.

It is both very special, and a bit of a shame that parts of the Doctor’s costume will be available, but it is a way for many of us to own a bit of history.

It will probably be for serious collector’s only.
The price of the packs is bound to go up for authentic costumes & will also depend on the ratios per card per box. I think to gain a complete set will be out of reach for many of the people who visit this site. Old Dr Who costume cards vary between £18-£30 each so a new set of these will go for silly prices individually. If they produce about 4,000 cards from limited clothing a full set is improbable for most people…

      August 14th, 2013 - 2:09pm

They wont be part of the base set there will just be like in like 1000 packs

    • Radburn

      August 14th, 2013 - 2:54pm

I’ll wait until I see the percentages but will probably give this one a miss – It will be far to expensive to attempt to get a complete set…

      The blessed underwear is fake.
      40th anniversary
      Benton not rare
Fifth doctor space costume rare pay 15/20
Androzani soldier two variant. Black not as rare as red
      Cdv
      Androzani silver not very rare
      Jamie’s costume very rare 20/30
      Benton common again
      Vogan two variants tarnish
And a blueprint floor plan I have jnt auto in one. We sell email so this set we will buy five cases of boxes and price cards from there expect extreme prices

    • Radburn

      August 17th, 2013 - 8:26am

‘Expect extreme prices’ does not inspire any confidence in this set…

Does it mean ‘7 Doctors costumes’ as in the seventh doctor’s costume or seven pieces of different doctor’s costumes? If you get what I mean.

7 different Doctor’s items of clothing. That is probably why the other’s are not available – They have had to buy 7 authentic clothing items & that is pretty hard to do. Especially considering what actual price’s real costume pieces or props go for now…

    • Trenzalore

      August 13th, 2013 - 6:01pm

Thanks, gonna really have to look after it if I get one, wonder which 7 they will choose

    • Radburn

      August 22nd, 2013 - 5:26am

It’s starting to sound like it is only going to be 1 or 2 Doctor’s costume cards (One of which is the 11th.) the other 5 costume cards may only be from other character’s featured in the show?

  • Radburn

    August 13th, 2013 - 5:02pm

Costume cards are fine – But it depends on the Rarity? If you have a shirt worn by Jon Pertwee & they make only 500 cards then say a tie worn by David Tennant that make’s only 250 cards how many will be released per box? If it is 1 costume card every 3 boxes it will make it very hard to get a complete set…

What does I mean by ‘actual pieces of 7 Doctors costumes’ have they cut pieces out and stuck them to cards? 😆 Bit weird is that! Also it says 7 doctors, plural. Why only 7 of the doctor’s costumes, what about the other 4? Other than that these sound really good, I only needed 18 more cards to complete my other collection of these 🙁

They are actually called ‘Costume Cards’ or more commonally Swatch Cards & will be Chase cards in the set. They are 2 pieces of card stuck together (Making them thicker than a normal card) & sandwiched between them is a small piece (Swatch) of an original costume worn by the actor. The front of the card will have an open panel with the costume piece displayed.
