Doctor Who Adventures Magazine Subscriptions to End

Due to the increasingly high cost of postal delivery Doctor Who Adventures Magazine will no longer be offering subscriptions as servicing copies is now unprofitable for them.

“We have explored all options, but in the end found that there is no viable way to keep the subscription service going without losing money.

I would like to express my sincerest apologies for this disappointment.

I appreciate that this may cause significant upset for the little ones who love getting their magazine through the door every week.”

Subscribers should get a letter in the next few days with details on how to reclaim any overpayments. If you wish to ensure a regular copy we suggest you put in an order with your local newsagent.

Please note this is the last subscription copy. Doctor Who Adventures will now be published fortnightly with the next issue available on Tuesday June 4th

    Dear Doctor.
Do you ever get to do your own stunts. If so are they fun and what are they? If not would you like to do a stunt to hang upside down from the Eiffel Tower?

While part of me sees this, combined with the end of subscriptions, as the bells starting to toll, better fortnightly than cancelling. When they stop with the free gifts you’ll know the end is approaching.

I have been buying since 2010 and I remember it was the cover for Flesh and Stone and the preview of Vampires in Venice. I have been on the verge of not buying this now for a long time, I brought 321, however I’m not bothering anymore! I don’t think the future is bright for DWA anymore – why would it go back to fortnightly in the 50TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR! That’s bad! So, I enjoyed reading my last issue of DWA!

The next issue better have decent content and a wowing cover to persuade me to buy it!

    I’m still confused.
Was the end of The Name of the Doctor a clue that there is now a Twelfth Doctor, or is it just a different Doctor completely or is it an evil Doctor, or a far future one or. . . AAARGH!
I’ve never been confused at Doctor Who before, but this has me stumped.

      May 27th, 2013 - 10:47am

No he isn’t. That was just a rumour. Until it is officially confirmed, there is no truth to it. Until the 50th Anniversary, we won’t know what role he has in The Doctor’s life.

Even if he turns out to be “the real Ninth Doctor”, as far as I’m concerned the real Ninth Doctor will always be Christopher Eccleston, not this John Hurt guy.

Have you ever noticed that the mini monster armies stopped after the daleks were released and now they are just doing repeats, I hope they do some more from series 7

I have been collecting this magazine for 5 years and am frankly horrified that they are going back to fortnightly.
What about when Doctor Who is on?
How will they do the weekly preview?
And why change to a Tuesday?
    Of all things!
    This is not good news…

I can answer one. Subscribers get there copies on a Tuesday, so perhaps to avoid disappointing youngsters who used to get it on a Tuesday, they moved the date.

As for the others, I have no ideas.

    Fortnightly now, so I expect:
    1. More pages
    2. Better quality free gifts
    3. More Posters

Maybe a half-the-size of DWM for DWA?

I hope you’re right, but I suspect they will be the same. I think losing the official subs will hurt DWA income (or that’s what they are anticipating), thus doing weekly magazines may not be profitable. It might also be easier for people to get to a store to buy them, if they don’t have to do it every week.

      May 23rd, 2013 - 9:52am

I should note I’m just speculating there. Anyways, I have to remember to order this on Tuesdays now… I’m so used to buying this on a Thursday, I’ll probably forget for a while. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I know, I got the first issue onwards; and fortnightly seemed no different to the ones now. However, it would be nice for them to do a little more now that we can’t get our weekly fix of Doctor Who ๐Ÿ™‚

Series 8 better not be split, because i think it will be series 8 part 1 in autumn 2014 and part 2 in spring, which i really don’t want to happen!

This isnt a very good cover for a finale week DWA compered to past ones like series 5’s big bang DWA which had a 3D cover, also why green dosent realy match the importance of the episode and they could have included some sticker’s or something. Not very happy. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Yes I thought that two. Every year they have always done a cover that is good when the finale finishes. This time it dosen’t seem the case. Series 2 finale they had daleks vs cybermen, Series 3 The Doctor and Master, Series 4 Dalek, Donna and Duplicate Dr, Series 5, 3D Cover, Series 6 Silent, Dr, Amy and Rory, and now the doctor and a whisperman. And green doesn’t go with this episode it was to dark so they should have chosen red or black. And hopefully they’ll do a series 7 sticker sheet soon!

I don’t even understand why they removed the Geronimo page in the first place, they had when series 6 and the first half of 7 where on and also while s7pt2 was airing we got loads of 50th news so they would have had something to write about!
