I guess it won’t matter to those that don’t have or want the 3D but as I gave away last year’s blu ray, colour me disappointed.

    Email from BBC Shop

    Dear Paul,

    Thanks for your email,

This item does not include the 3d version. The picture online was just a general picture until the correct artwork was to be confirmed.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind Regards,

strange, it never said to be confirmed on the artwork and revised images were never sent out.

Amazon (i see its back up for pre order) etc are still showing full high res pictures with 3D clearly showing right now

i can see this being a major issue for some people sadly

I am seeing a lot of merchandise receiving big changes for origial images shown at the moment

There was never an ‘Artwork TBC’ notice…

Perhaps if enough of us complain (I don’t need the 3D but I’ll gladly help put pressure on them) they’ll send out last year’s 3D B-R like when the UK Series 1-7 set didn’t include the bonus disc, so they sent out ‘A Christmas Carol’ (with the 2010 proms).

If so, is the 3D BR included ? (if you have that version)

I found two tweets from BBC Shop from July & August saying it only included 2D – but these were just quiet, unnoticeable replies to queries, not announcements or anything that would appear on one’s feed…

That’s good for you. I hope for you that is right!Remember the BBC do say in their delivery section “sending out releases as early as possible to make sure the customer receives them by the release date” BY the release date could mean on release or before. BY is a very flexible description.

I have received the following statement from BBC shop online when asking if the emails mean item dispatch:

“Customers will start to see confirmation emails this week, Pre-ordered products will be despatched 1-2 working days before the release date for delivery on or close to the date of release.”

So looks like Friday at the earliest!

I’ve seen many queries online from people wondering if the 3D Blu-ray of TDotD was included, (I’m not bothered as I don’t have a 3D TV) but BBC Shop have changed the 3D BR logo in the corner of the cover to a standard one…
so maybe just 2D after all???

    • Grey and Blue

      August 31st, 2014 - 3:24pm

I hope its not TBH. The 3D release was badly handled. The audio was terrible, the disc had both 3D and 2D which was a lot of space taken up by the main feature. Plus we already know by the rundown of the discs that there are lots of special features on the day disc meaning it would need a new disc master. Quite frankly if they do as good as they did with Series 4 specials then I will be happy cause the amount of stuff there was great, the way it was spread out over the discs were great and the menus were unique for each.

    • StormOfOncomers

      August 31st, 2014 - 4:11pm

      Today (still looking for 3D inclusion conformation) I stumbled across a tweet by BBC Shop from 13/08/2014 replying to one such query with;

“We have just had confirmation that the 50th Collection includes the 2D version only.”

      Anyone else seen it???

    • Grey and Blue

If your getting despatch emails from BBC Shop it doesn’t mean the Box set is been despatching today. Pre-Orders for Web of Fear and Enemy of the World were charged and despatch emails sent a week before the release and before the items were even sent. BBC Shop do this when there’s a huge pre-ordered item like this Box Set is. They’ll start despatching them from Thursday or Friday from next week.

well DannyE I ordered mine the 24th and on card and no sign of dispatch e-mail yet or on my BBC shop account, so it looks like there not making preference over paypal or card when it comes to sending them out already

I haven’t had a dispatch note yet either and I ordered within a few hours of its release 🙁

For those who have, is it being sent by Royal Mail or courier? I’m hoping it’s the former because I’m fed up of trying to coordinate with couriers!

Thanks booboo, all of mine have as well but they’ve been smaller in size and value. There’s a slim chance I also got in quick enough to get the brochure thing as well.
I’m just so excited to get this set I’m worried about it being sent back due to non-delivery, how sad is that!

    • Darren

      August 31st, 2014 - 1:43pm

you could have a point there Anonymous, maybe the people who haven’t had it sent out yet is cause there waiting for the brochure to come into stock before sending it

    • matthew

      August 31st, 2014 - 3:59pm

maybe they’re dispatching alphabetically mine has been charged yet and my surname begins R

    • Darren

      August 31st, 2014 - 4:08pm

They could be Matthew cause my surname begins with W, but really it should be first come first serve I think, after all if you’ve pre-ordered it on the first day you should be one of the first to get it dispatched IMO

    • Anonymous

      August 31st, 2014 - 5:30pm

The brochure and surname ideas are good (my name is also W), it’s nice to have some idea why I might not have had the email. Since I pre-ordered on the first day I was getting a bit concerned (they did say that stock was allocated first come first serve). I’m the same anonymous from above btw!

    • Ginger Animator

      September 1st, 2014 - 10:28am

I’d go in for the alphabetical idea,
My mate with surname B got his dispatch email last week
I got mine today (surname G)
But my other mate (who ordered his first out of us three) still hasn’t had a dispatch (surname T)

Also can someone fill me in on this brochure thing?

    • booboo

      September 1st, 2014 - 10:32am

not sure what they mean, Christmas? bit early although its a big hit to send one out with that’s for sure

    • Anonymous

      September 1st, 2014 - 1:35pm

I’ve now got my dispatch email! The brochure was apparently for the first 500 people to buy the set, although the message didn’t hang around on the BBC shop for very long so not many people read it. It said it was a 50th thing so I’m assuming it was this one: http://www.bbcshop.com/doctor-who/doctor-who-50th-celebration-official-brochure/invt/dw50c01

It would make sense since it’s the kind of thing that loses value for them over time.

I heard that if you were the first 500 who ordered this, that you get some sort of leaflet? Is any of that true?

No. But I think anyone who pre-orders it, gets a bonus leaflet from BBC shop. But first 500 aren’t special. Don’t worry.

Will this have ALL the special features the US Bluray of An Adventure in Space and Time has?

I have one ‘saved for later’ on Amazon. Can they still sell out for me or am I safe now?

They can still sell out. You have simply ‘bookmarked’ it. The only way to make sure you get on is by pre-ordering it.

Paddy, You may as well pre-order it on Amazon to be ‘sure’. Also you will get the best price so if it goes down any further, they will only charge you the lowest price.

Money is not taken until a couple of days before dispatch so you can always cancel it at any time…

No it can still sell out. Pre-order it. They won’t charge or even put a hold on the funds on your card like other stores do so you can pre-order even if you have no funds in your card (I Think). Worth trying as they won’t take the money until dispatch anyway so if it fails it fails.
