Don’t grab it just for the future value – grab it for the contents!

Remember that for everyone who buys limited things like this simply to try and sell them on later, there’s a person who would have enjoyed it for what it’s meant for who has to lose out. So if you’re going to grab it, open it, watch it and enjoy it! = )

This thing is designed to be opened, and unlike action figures there is a next to no chance of you damaging the packaging in doing so, so it will make not difference to what ever value it may rack up in a few years

My mum’s asked me to write down her brothers son will have to do it online she said ”what’s pre-order?” So I said ”well think of it like this you buy now it’ll come straight to either her door or our door and you wont miss out”. I am thinking of my mum to try and get us the war doc offline if she will but the prices are shocking. Hmm aye being a collector – Mmm? She said I wouldn’t pay three pound for Capaldi’s series – Lol awe my mum is a huge Matt Smith fan girl.

    • Trenzalore

      July 29th, 2014 - 7:49pm

It’s ridiculous in my opinion. There is just no need for it to be limited especially since it’s the full 50th box set which is quite important. Imagine all those people who didn’t buy the single release waiting for something like this to come in shops especially for all those younger whovians. I personally think that less merchandise should be limited, the one off is okay but we’ve had quite a few in the last year or so.
If they made this not limited and then released a special edition, that would be fine.

    • booboo

      July 29th, 2014 - 8:27pm

They make them limited so they don’t tie up up huge resources in slow moving or unsold stock that they them have to sell off at loss

      Perfect business sense

    • Trenzalore

      July 29th, 2014 - 8:39pm

No I’m still not sure about the whole limited thing. If it get’s into shops for at least a month, then I’ll be willing to eat my words 😆

While I genuinely approve of your eagerness to give the BBC your money, it’s my personal opinion that to buy both the DVD and the blu-ray is a little selfish. It’s a limited edition meaning somebody will miss out on owning this and be terribly disappointed. Not everyone has the internet or follows the right webpages to even know this has been released in order to pre-order.

    • Some bloke

      July 29th, 2014 - 9:48pm

Sorry, I never saw it like that…

      July 29th, 2014 - 11:42pm

I just hope they make an unlimited basic version so that everyone can get this at some point. That being said I have pre-ordered my DVD one.

    • Nicholas

      July 30th, 2014 - 2:59pm

Why would you need both? Surely the Blu-Ray by itself is more than satisfactory

    • theHAWKeatsFORKS

      August 13th, 2014 - 4:15pm

      That’s nothing.
My evil friend has ordered 50 DVD’s and 25 Blu-Rays with all his money, just to sell on eBay to make money. It really annoys me as some fans will now miss out.

Just as long as she can have the proms on DVD she loves the music and pesters me is the proms on this!? In HMV when I was purchasing the series 7 Complete DVD. So yeah, gotta let mum get this shell only get it for the proms and the extras she likes Smith and if you watch the overview off comic con on my youtube then blimey your get that shes a big Smith fan girl. Didn’t half get noticed.

Watch out for BBC shop, I haven’t noticed this myself but apparently the money is put on hold until dispatch so they don’t take it but you can’t spend it either. I don’t think Amazon do this, but it’s more expensive there and their ethics are a bit dodgy!

    • booboo

      July 27th, 2014 - 3:34pm

A lot of companies do this to ensure the money is available at time of despatch and to make sure they payment method you give them is legit.

    • Anonymous

      July 27th, 2014 - 3:32pm

P.S. Definitely pre-order, the advert on the BBC shop says that they’re selling fast and even although I know it’s just to make you pre-order, I’m inclined to believe them! The offer about a free brochure for the first 500 apparently disappeared within a few hours so either they retracted it or that’s how many of both DVD and blu-ray had gone within that time. That was a few days ago now.

    • booboo

      July 27th, 2014 - 3:36pm

I would believe them in this case

6000 spread across several on-line retailers and presumable shops eventually is not that many

    • Trenzalore

      July 27th, 2014 - 3:39pm

Especially considering it’s worldwide release. I’ve pre-ordered it anyway now. Saw that advert saying they were selling fast and I believe them too! 😆

It’s probable that The BBC Shop have just pre-authorised your cards. Based on a similar experience pre-ordering the 11 disk 50th anniversary soundtrack CDs a few months back, it appears that your available funds in your account are lower than normal for a few days. Still means that I have to ensure I have the funds available in early September…!
