Besides the read through extra….there is no new material in this set is there? It’s just a repackaged bundle if what we’ve already bought…right?

you can order it from the BBC anyway

I’m in Australia and I’ve already pre-ordered my copy! 😀

Australian and UK Blu-Rays used the same region coding, so a UK Blu-Ray can play in an Australian player, or vice versa.

    • Jay Ubi

      July 25th, 2014 - 3:30pm

I only have a R1 DVD player so this is why I’m curious.

    • MadManWithABox

      July 27th, 2014 - 2:15am

Sorry, but I’m afraid DVD Region Coding is another matter entirely…

Unless your DVD player happens to be region-free, then R2 DVDs (UK DVDs) will NOT play in a R1 player. Occasionally R2 DVDs will play in R4 (Australian) players, but this is rare and depends entirely depends on the disc.

Surely, others should let this order just be for UK. Otherwise we will have none left. They can have there’s, if it is released in there country

Hopefully the Standard 2D day of the doctor has had it’s audio fixed as it had problems on the 3D blu ray disc where the audio sounded distorted and tinny. Hopefully for this high profile release they have fixed it.

      July 23rd, 2014 - 8:57pm

Unlikely as this was the End of Matt’s era final story. Season 8 box set will soley start with Peter (as did season 5,Matt’s first)

Day and Time (and to a minor extent Name) are essentially a specials box set (like Tennant’s final year)

    • Radburn

      July 23rd, 2014 - 10:56pm

Will be a short Series 8 then with only 12 episodes?

    • James A

      July 24th, 2014 - 1:43am

I think the series concludes with the Christmas special, making the series 13 episodes.

    • Blake Jamieson

      July 24th, 2014 - 9:14am

but i think the series 8 boxset is released before Christmas so, the 2014 xmas special will probably be on the series 9 box next year. But this year is filled with the DVDs, this and the Series 8 box is gonna leave me broke for ages XD

    • Radburn

      July 24th, 2014 - 12:03pm

Yes, Series 8 will finish early Nov & the DVD Boxset is due in November ~ So a very short unfair set without ‘Time Of The Doctor’ on it…

    • Slytherinx

      July 24th, 2014 - 5:27pm

Bear in mind the first episode of series 8 is double length. They could easily have made it a two-parter to stretch series 8 to 13 episodes, but chose instead to keep it feature lenghth.

It would be amazing if we had a Doctor Trilogy Capsule with this DVD set, The War Doctor figure with Moment and The Gears of War Book, but it would probably cost over £100.

    • drjakeyoung

      July 23rd, 2014 - 8:51pm

  • 100000BC

Basically this is every piece of 2D video content with any meaning, significance and value (i.e. not the afterparty) that was transmitted/released with specifically the 50th anniversary in mind. (as Name and Time were basically extra 50th anniversary specials, which highlighted the “every enemy” and “(sort of) new footage of every Doctor” aspects of fandom’s expectations.

Except the excellent ‘Me You And Doctor Who’ documentary, which was half the length and a hundred times the value of the abysmal ‘Ultimate Guide’. Strictly speaking this box set doesn’t include the true 2D version of Day Of The Doctor either on the Bluray version, which inexcusably uses the same glitchy disc as the individual release.

    • GallifreyanKnight

      July 27th, 2014 - 12:45am

You’ll also find that all the TV and radio trailers, as well as all the 50th anniversary YouTube content, have not been included.

So it doesn’t come with “everything”, which is a shame, as it would have been nice to have it “all” in one set.

    • Doctor Who Crazy Ross

      July 23rd, 2014 - 2:49pm

Name is the most necessary part of the trilogy….
It not only sees the Doctors tomb on Trenzalore, but it also introduces us to The War Doctor and goes into the Day of the Doctor.

In this trilogy, we see Trenzalore in both Name and Time (the events before and after Day) so it is very necessary for the box set.

I read that this is limited edition-4000 on DVD and 6000 on Blu-Ray. Taking that into consideration, should it be fairly easy to get hold of when it comes out, but possibly become rare afterwards like the ‘Regeneration’ box set?
