Character Options has unveiled details of a brand new Limited Edition Doctor Who 5.5” scale action figure. Images of the Missy figure, first in a new range of scale Doctor Who Collector Series toys were revealed by Alasdair Dewar, Product Development Director, today via video on the Character Options’ website.

Missy, played by Michelle Gomez, is a villainous Time Lady who recently revealed herself as the Doctor’s arch enemy, the Master! Missy has been firmly established as a new fan favourite character, and as a collector’s figure, she is truly a must have.

The Missy Figure will be available in two variants; a purple outfitted version with hat from the series finale episodes; and alternatively in her ‘Heaven’ outfit, hatless with black jacket and manic grin.

The Missy figures each have 18 points of articulation and are highly detailed and decorated. Each figure head can also be swapped so that both heads can be incorporated with either outfit, and they both come with accessories.

The bespoke UK Collector Series packs are perfect for display and for the first time are re-sealable, so that the figures can be enjoyed in or out of packaging without losing their collectability.

Only 4,000 units of each of the two figures are available in exclusive UK packaging at www.character-online.co.uk for a price of £19.99 each (excluding P&P). Delivery will be made to customers by early November.

Al Dewar states: “Character Options has been designing, manufacturing and marketing Doctor Who toys since 2005, so as true fans of the brand we wanted to tell collectors the latest news in the most direct, if informal way, which is why I made the announcement in person on the website.

Missy is the first of a potential new line of highly sought after 5.5-inch action figures so we expect interest to be high and we are all very excited to share this with fans and collectors alike.

“Working with Michelle Gomez was great fun and she was the best subject we ever 3D scanned, patiently holding her facial expressions including her trademark Missy “sneer” for long periods of time. We know that many collectors have been eagerly waiting to see if Missy would at some point be included within our figure range, and at last, here she is.”

Re pricing. Bear in mind these are limited releases and the packaging is more elaborate than a plastic bubble on a card. These prices are pretty much in line with other limited release figures give or take…. I’d happily pay for one of these than two pints of lager (and afterwards I still have this and no hangover)

I also think as these are direct from Character it will help fund development of further figures that we would just not get otherwise.

I must say, £19.99 + postage and packaging does seem quite expensive for a normal standard figure. that’s just over £40 for both, a little expensive in this day and age. Although I would love her figure, im sure because of high demand they’ll release an alternative figure within their next wave or two, which will only be £9.99!

There will be no 5 inch version for 9.99! Those days are long gone! There is a 3.75 version coming that will be cheaper.

I remember hearing people say that Character delivers worldwide but I thought that something different would be happening if the US market get packaging without the special border design, and the video did put emphasis on getting this being in the UK.

Well so far we know there is,
      4 variants of Capaldi
      2 variants of Missy
      Clara
      Curator
TARDIS (it has the same packaging of Capaldi so it kind of counts)

I think the black dress version looks better! Love it when she grins like that. Face sculpt is brilliant! And I do prefer that “softer” tone to the paint apps.

Character online now have their own separate page for the collectors figures so looks like we have many more to come! 😀

A bit disappointing I think… I really don’t understand why there’s no classic or capaldi style tardis console set/diorama…. I have had one custom made in America for £100, I’m so sure there’s commercial value to producing them, think of all the variations they could do with them. By the way the custom made one looks amazing.

      September 24th, 2015 - 10:37am

because they probably used to sell probably double if not triple the amount before Woolworths went

people dont realise what an impact that had to the impulse buy market

      Sigh…
      🙁 🙁 🙁
I feel like we’ve been getting the short end of the stick.
-No 5″ figures except for 12.
-The new 3.75″ figures have disappeared in this country, I can’t find series four of the figures.
      – BBC charges a ton for DVDs of the show.
      – Never seen Time Squad in this country either.
I wish that I could “say something nice”, but I can’t.
You guys can complain about how the figure looks and then buy it anyway; I can’t even buy it for a reasonable price!

I suppose it’s good for those that want a Missy figure.
The face sculpt is rubbish though. Looks nothing like Michelle Gomez.

    I’m honestly a bit underwhelmed.
I love Missy, but not enough to want to buy a figure of her.

On a side note, Al said that Missy’s “death mobile” was infact a teleport device. That would explain how Missy isn’t dead in season 35, but that would also explain how Osgood is able to return, even though she was apparently “vaporised”. 🙂
