I know its very early, but heres my hopes for the next lot:
Note: im keeping them all rereleases

-The ‘companions’ set with Amy Pond (victory of the daleks) Rose Tyler (new earth) and Captain Jack (utopia) and maybe damaged k9.

-The villains set with missy (the witches familiar) with hatless head and if possible, a repaint of the black figure instead of the original darker purple one so as to have the correct trimmings, Davros (mgicians apprentice) and a cyberleader with gun(a good man goes to war) technically a variant by placing the next doctors cyberleaders head on to the body of a seriea 6 cyberman.

    – The monsters set with bronze dalek (dalek-witches familiar) CLEAN original weeping angel, screaming or weeping (blink- time of the doctor) and blue or purple clockwork man (girl in the fireplace)

    Thoughts?

Some nice ones here. But tbh, I can’t help feeling some are a little, well. Not needed. Missy is a brand new figure and just released so that won’t happen. We’ve had many Cybermen, but I understand why you’d want a non-Cybus Cyberlord/Cyberleader. Companions set is useless to me and many others in my opinion, they’re all just standard releases available on eBay pretty cheaply. Davros, now that’s a definite! Clean Weeping Angel, I mean, I can see why, but one was releases only the other year which was clean enough (few added stone marks). Bronze Dalek, definitely always handy tbf! Could do with some more, well, not really, but I could! And customs with them are amazing. Clockwork Man, purple definitely would be my pick, but I’m not too fussed about ever getting a re-release of that figure.

Overall, the two that stand out are Davros and the Dalek. We need releases that army builders can pick up loads of, customisers can use, and of figures that may be slightly rarer. Surely ‘TMG/TWF’ set is in the works, Character are looking at a huge money maker and it would be a ridiculous choice not to make one. They can use ‘Bronze Dalek’, ‘Davros’, ‘Supreme Dalek’, ‘Dead Planet Dalek’, ‘Evil Dalek Guard’, ‘Remembrance Renegade Dalek’ all as re-releases. And could sell it off at about £35-£40 and it would sell. All basic re-releases, and marketed as brand new Series 9 figures… What’s to lose?
Plus that set includes figures that are very expensive now, so it’s a brilliant opportunity! I don’t understand, they want to utilise already used sculpts, they get the perfect chance and are still yet to take it, fingers crosses eventually it will happen.

Yeah, I really only mentioned missy as, neing quite stuburn when it comes to fine details, i was very annoyed when i learnt the newest was a repaint of the original purple, when the black missy figure had both the more accurate hair/head and costume moulds.

I’m all for repaints (its all we can hope for sometimes)and if the purple figure was the only one to exist prior then it would have made senceto just repaint that instead of making a completely new mould, but I refuse to forgive them now when they had the accurate mould already in existance, and im genuinely not sure if i want to buy it or not, incase they release a more accurate one down the line.

But every thing you said makes sence, and i agree we definately need more army building opportunities.

He’s the only figure with that weird flesh coloured plastic that didn’t bother me too much – I always thought it made him look like he was glowing with regeneration energy, making him a proper Jacobi as Master figure, rather than a Yana figure.

These sets are a brilliant idea; great for new fans and people like me who were too young to appreciate the “classic” series when the original figures were released. It’s great because they are so cheap it doesn’t worry me if I already have one of the figures in the set. They’ve already made their money so they can be released cheaply along with simple repainted variants. I would like to see this done with non-electronic versions of the old TARDISes (1, 4, 7 and 9/10) which presumably could be released with one or two figures at a similar price to this.

Although the third Doctor set is the most visually boring (no monsters) it’s ironic that it’s the most collectible.

I’ll hopefully get hold of the classic monster set as well even though i have them from the individual releases a few years ago.

These are not aimed at children, but collectors

    • booboo

      June 10th, 2016 - 7:09am

I think these are aimed at both, as any figures are really

collectors in their droves will head to B&M for the 3rd Doctor set and may pick up the other 2 while they are there whilst “children” as an impulse buy may want the 10th doctor set, because its the 10th doctor, cyberman and a “spaceman”and possibly the monster set , the monsters are actually a cleaver choice.

    • booboo

      June 9th, 2016 - 12:39pm

      yes thats the one

there is some question over the Zygon in these sets as we dont have a close-up pack shot yet of the actual figures

    • Anonymous

      June 9th, 2016 - 12:47pm

Very good sets. The way I see variants is that is something has had a fresh paint job but is essentially the same (such as the decaying Master in the 4th Doc set) then I won’t bother. But is a figure is made to look completely different by the paint work such as the 3rd Doctor, Jo and even the weather Angel then I will go for it.

Actually, I think the Tenth doctor was a new variant too – unless I am mistaken, he had the body (blue suit and red plimsolls) of series 3 but the new head/hair sculpt that was released in series 4.

    • Whovastron

      June 9th, 2016 - 1:20pm

Yes the Tenth Doctor was a variant. Also Prisoner Zero was moulded in a different colour plastic to his original release, and D84 had a printed number, as apposed to a sticker sheet and blank chest.

Additionally, the Daleks in the collectors set #2 had the newer moulded ear lights and the skirt/bumper moulded from the SFX Daleks.

I think the Jo is alright actually, I think it goes with the quirky way she dresses, it’s certainly not nice but it is fitting. As for the other two, I don’t have a third Doctor or Delgado Master so this is perfect for me. I guess you’ve got to remember that some people don’t have these figures and it’s a great way for people to get new figures cheaply, I managed to get a lot of figures I didn’t already own because of the B&M sets, they really need to put the Ainley Master in one of these though

It’s a shame that neither the 3rd Doctor or The Master come with their Sonic Screwdrier and TCE accessories considering the Cyberman in the 10th Doctor Collector’s Set comes with a Preacher gun accesory. Then again the 10th Doctor variant in that set doesn’t come with his Sonic Screwdriver and the Invasion Cyberman from the Monsters Set doesn’t look like it comes with it’s gun either. I will still be getting this set despite that though, I may get the Monsters Set as the Zygon figure included looks like a variant or maybe I’m wrong.

I thought it looked like a variant too, the paint apps look slightly different and I even thought that it was maybe painted to resemble the new design, it probably isn’t though. I’ll definitely get the Third and Monster sets as I don’t have any of the figures except Jo Grant but it’s a variant anyway with the non-weird head. I’m so happy to finally get a Pertwee figure, it’s in one of my favourite costumes for him too

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

      June 8th, 2016 - 7:19pm

I think it could be a variant because to me the paint application on the image with the other two sets looks similar to the prototype image for the Zygon figure from classic series wave 1, if that’s the case then I’ll get the Monsters Set just for that figure. The pertwee variant is the main reason I’m getting this set, the paint application on the head sculpt looks slightly different as well and I like the metallic blue look to the jacket. I’m not too bothered about the Jo variant as her’s arms are inaccurate and should be short sleeved not long sleeved and I already have a Delgado Master.
