Doctor Who follows the adventures of the last Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who simply goes by the name “The Doctor”. At the end of the 2013 season, The Doctor regenerated into his new form and new personality, and is portrayed by legendary Scottish actor Peter Capaldi.

12th-doctor7501

This new incarnation, the Twelfth Doctor, is a spiky, brusque, pragmatic, yet funny, passionate and fearless character who travels with his companion, Clara Oswald. His adventures with (and without) Clara in the 2014 season lead him to make tough and ruthless decisions that make him question his character and the value of his travels.

This all new 5 inch tall figure showcases the new look The Doctor takes on after the regeneration, featuring his now signature dark blue Crombie-style coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a long collared white shirt buttoned to the top with no tie, and brogue boots. He also comes with his trusty sonic screwdriver.

Can I just say, I am so freaking refreshed that they are doing more 5 inch figures now. 12th Doctor, series 8/9 TARDIS, a properly sculpted Dalek Sec, and I bet there will be more to come. Wouldn’t doubt that this is their way of slowly phasing out the 3.75 inch figures and bringing the 5 inch figures back completely. Good on them. Any ideas on new 5 inch figures coming?

If the 3.75″ vanish that will effectively take the brand away from the toy market £15 a figure is fine for collectors but not for impulse buys and the pocket money market

Personally I’m not so sure its a good thing that all eggs now appear to be in one basket.

I recently picked up all 4 variants and this is how I would put them.

Polka dot is the worst because it’s an awful costume to begin with and somehow they made it look worse.

Then the white shirt variant because despite it being the only accurate one it just looks bland without the cardigan or waistcoat.

Then the black shirt cause it looks kinda cool, it’s still a tad to bland.

And my favorite is the purple shirt cause purple is one of my favorite colors and I would actually like to see Capaldi rock a shirt that purple.

Technically he did appear on screen without the cardigan or waistcoat. At the beginning of The Caretaker when The Doctor & Clara are on the desert planet look closely and you will see that The Doctor is not wearing anything over the white shirt, just his jacket. I don’t know if Character Options saw this and though “Yes make that one, we can just reuse the same mold” or if it is just pure laziness (Both seem pretty likely). But we have seen this before with The Fifth Doctor figure where the skipped the celery on the lapel because he didn’t wear it in Castrovalva.

They also have an 11th doctor flight control Tardis listed but I believe it is actually the twelfth as the description includes the lights on the inside and none of the other tardises include them. Have ordered both the Tardis and 12th doctor so will soon find out.

I got the white shirt as I think the polka dots are far too big compared with his actual costume!

I’m going to get the burgundy variant too when it comes out then call it quits as far as the 12th Doctor figures are concerned!

I might get the curator set and Clara, but will probably wait until they are actually released and I can see them in-store!

    • Doctor Eleven

      September 21st, 2015 - 9:00pm

    • DoctorSong2016

      September 21st, 2015 - 9:10pm

nah i think the purple shirt will be most accurate, if you look in photos the black isno where near as deep as that and is more of a grey-blue-black

I have all 3 variants. I think the black shirt one looks the best. After that the white shirt one, then the polka dot. I want to wait for the last one to come out and maybe my list may change.

    • MrHalloWho

      September 22nd, 2015 - 6:54am

I’ll get the white, and probably paint a waistcoat on. I’m not a fan of the darker shirts, it doesn’t stand out as much, and I think it’s a bit odd to have a dark coat, dark trousers, dark shoes, dark waistcoat and a dark shirt.

    • Lumpy

      November 16th, 2015 - 3:47pm

You are all wrong, the white shirt is actually 100% accurate. The polka dots are way to large and thus ruin the screen accuracy (but that costume was horrible anyway). The purple shirt is way to vibrant and should have been more of a wine color (That is my favorite look for Capaldi as I like to dress as that one for conventions). But the black shirt is the most inaccurate one of the lot, he never wore that on screen. The closet thing to it was Time Heist in which he was wearing greyish blue shirt, a pity cause I love that episode (although the costume just looks bland). So the white shirt version is actually the most accurate Twelfth Doctor we have.

    • DoctorSong2016

      November 16th, 2015 - 4:30pm

Well I meant other than the White shirt figure and I was right it is the most accurate other than the White shirt figure, because it’s not a major outfit so I was ignoring it though it is accurate, everyone has been through this with the White shirt, saying it’s accurate so you’re a bit late

    • Lumpy

      November 22nd, 2015 - 10:35am

Well obviously no one on this post knew cause they were all saying the purple shirt or black shirt were the most accurate, yet if they had actually taken a look at the Robot of Sherwood & Time Heist costumes the colors on the figures are way off. The polka dot shirt is a minor costume too but that still counts. None of them are accurate expect the white shirt version, they are all things that were dead simple to get right and CO couldn’t do that so the white shirt version (while I agree they should have put a waistcoat on it) is the only accurate one, there is no runner up. Plus I haven’t actually found anyone state the shirt by it’s self is accurate, with except for votesaxon in his review but that’s it. I have had to point it out to most people.

No i think he meant Mr Capaldi’s second series

    • Lumpy

      November 16th, 2015 - 3:54pm

I am getting all four versions of Capaldi and I have another white shirt version (so five in total) and I will not be needing the polka dot version (easily the worst outfit any doctor has worn yes that includes Colin Baker. I prefer explosion in a rainbow factory to my 80 year old grandma) so I will be turning that one into the Magician’s Apprentice version. I will be getting the Crow figure to use his guitar and I will find a 6 inch scale tank to place him on. Also Eric the Dalek, you wouldn’t happen to be a fan of Doctor Freedom would you?

      November 16th, 2015 - 3:58pm

Scale is something CO have never been able to get right so I don’t mind him being slightly to tall. Some people have been going really in depth and have shown images of when The Doctor steps out of the TARDIS to talk to Clara after The Eleventh Doctor’s call in Deep Breath cause you can see where The Doctor’s head should be (which is just above the bottom of the window) but the figure is closer to the top. So it’s not accurate but not off putting to me.

    • DoctorSong2016

      September 19th, 2015 - 9:54pm

I was expecting it all to be released at once as a wave so to speak, but they are treating it like they are separate releases, I really hope we get a few more new figures before the end of the year, I mean Missy and NOTD eight are probably on their way fairly soon, I just hope it wont take ages between releases, I mean its a year since Missy first appeared and two years since NOTD, plus 3.75 versions are being released so I hope we get them soon

    • The13thDoctor

      September 19th, 2015 - 10:10pm

yeah, there’s a few characters that i feel should really be made shuck as missy and the 8th doctor. I assume we will more than likely get a few more 12th doctor variants as well now that they have the mould. As for them creating a wave, i can’t see it my self but i agree that they take too long between realising single figures, maybe they could do a few new series 8-9 3 pack figures with new characters/moulds? that could work and then they could charge a little more as well since we’d be getting 3 figures at a time.. what do people think to that idea?
