So this is definitely Under the Lake/Before the Flood and The Woman Who Lived. I swear the Last Christmas/Zygon Invasion/Sleep No More hoodies is black, not dark blue (it’s the Time Heist shirt colour debate, all over again!) But I suppose it’s close enough to count for those three as well, although I would also point out that in the Zygon story he wore the hoodie unzipped. But all of this is superfluous to the fact that this figure is awesome and I will definitely be buying it and the others in this wave (assuming they make their way to Aus)

I don’t think it can quite pass off as a Woman Who Lived variant as in that episode the hoodie was grey not green and his trousers had a plaid pattern instead of one colour. To be honest though I am very happy that this is based off Under the Lake/Before the Flood as that was the best two-parter we’ve had in ages and even if the hoodie isn’t the correct colour it can still easily get away with being from Last Christmas as I’m not sure how many variants they will do on this figure in addition to the two.

Under the Lake/Before the Flood is my fave story from Series 9, so yes, I’m really happy that it’s at least based on that. I’d forgotten about the patterned trousers in Woman Who Lived. If anyone wanted a truly accurate Woman Who Lived figure, it would be a fairly easy repaint of the hoodie and trousers.

I love the fact we are still getting new figures, but I can understand peoples frustrations…

We are still waiting to have a minimum of 1 companion per Doctor! We need one each for the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th and a proper Clara. Classic monster wise I amazed they have not brought out a classic Silurian… Oh and of course there are the latest versions of the Cybermen, Zygons and Ice Warriors to be done! I can live with a couple of repaints per batch if they would just bring out one of these with them each time!

Come back Woolies, all is forgiven!!!!! :’-(

I think the disappearance on Woolworths and Gamleys on the British high street has inadvertantly aided the decline in Doctor Who figures. I used to buy all my figures from these two during series 1, 2, 3 & 4.

    • 100,000BC

      October 29th, 2016 - 6:47pm

Not just the loss of Woolworths – the poor branding of the Series 5 figures also led to this sad situation. My eyes were drawn to series 1-4 figures in a shop due to the bright colours on the boxes; I walked past series 5 several times before I noticed them. If the Series 5 figures had simply kept the previous bright branding but with the new logo the figures would probably be in a better position than they are today. Places like Tesco stopped ordering because people weren’t buying and I believe that to be partly due to the fact that people would walk straight past them. Sadly a poor decision on Character’s part as it narrows down customers from the average passing kid to people who are specifically looking for them.

      would agree

but to be fair Character had to use the branding style for the time supplied by the BBC so not characters fault

I don’t see why some people are complaining about this repaint when it is one of 2 accurate variants where as last year we had 4 approximate variants and the ones this year are far superior. I get there’s not many figures, but at least the one we are getting are very accurate unlike Clara who was given a purple rag as a figure.

these figures are fine, its that fact that there is nothing new ( is in totally new character / monster) that’s causing the problem with many

Great news! New figures at last! OK, so most of us would like something ‘completely’ new, but I don’t think anywhere us willing to stomp up the extra dosh it would require! Just to to hope that a shop in the UK gets them in!

Well, they needed to afford the new sculpt somehow. This is how they do that. Saying that, there is still a small chance we’ll get one or two more new figures when Toys R Us announce them. Don’t be disapointed. 🙂

      Osgood
      Jac
      Mr Sweet

There’s actually a prototype for Hurndall, so if the CO wanted to, they could easily release it. As for Bill, a figure of her is on the way (In some form), according to a tweet from Pearl. 🙂

We should’ve got a Jackie Tyler figure by now… Instead of the faceless granny or the editor!

    • Anonymous

      October 28th, 2016 - 12:58pm

And I also think that they should have made this wave with the red velvet 12 and Clara included. When (or if) they ever release them then series 9 will have already passed and series 10 would have aired. I hope they wont just move onto series 10 figs and make AsBill and a s10 Dr without making the series 9 figures first.

    • Ginger Winger

      October 28th, 2016 - 1:03pm

Yeah, as we still don’t have a proper Clara figure… I am glad that they’ve now updated his sonic screwdriver although he didn’t get it until the end of Hell Bent & The Husbands of River Song when he was wearing his red velvet jacket.

    • Anonymous

      October 28th, 2016 - 1:06pm

That’s what also confuses me. They have given him a new sonic so they have to at least have a red velvet Capaldi in the works? And they can’t just leave us with that bad Clara figure from the last wave, surely they realize that.

I knew that “face” was just an optical illusion and had nothing to do with this figure! Although it kinda looks like Groot from GOTG so maybe the Doctor will be meeting the Guardians next season. Lol

    • The Outcast

      October 28th, 2016 - 12:22pm

Ohhhh. Still doesn’t explain why they told us to wait for the third to announce this variant though.
Also if anyone is wondering, I think the ‘cancelled’ figure was Bill and she will be released April time next year to coincide with the new series. It would explain why they had to cancel it (would have been announced to early for its release).
Though that is just a theory, I think its plausible and really hope this is the case, cause the best way to get people interested in your product is to release it exactly when the show is airing.

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 28th, 2016 - 7:25pm

I don’t think it was Bill. They would need a minumum of almost a year to sculpt and prototype and the. Deliver. There hasn’t been enough time for a Bill figure in my opinion

I think this one is the under the lake/before the flood look, as the hoodie has a slight green tinge to it, and two zips. I’m sure it could stand in for any of the episodes which Mr Sandman named above though.

Let’s face it, this is a brilliant turnout:
    3 new figures
Plus brilliant variants and rereleases in the 13 Doctors set and B&M sets.

Yes I know that in 2007 we might have got a 12/Kate/Osgood/Zygon box, a 12/Missy/Clara/TARDIS box set, a TARDIS interior and a 12/Davros/2 Daleks box set plus individual figures from each episode in the series but sadly it’s not 2007 any more, and we don’t have Woolworths or adequate demand for the product so it’s good at least to get new companions, doctors and rereleases of things we might have missed a few years ago.

I don’t think complaining is the answer. Think of it this way, at the beginning of the year we had hardly any Series 9 merchandise and now we do in the form of two new Twelfth Doctor variants which look great. We could have easily got nothing this year because of the hiatus but thanks to CO and UT they have been generous and made two new variants and a figure we have wanted for a number of years now.

Aha, my favourite Twelfth Doctor costume variant (and one of my favourite Doctor costumes overall!), so this is an absolute must have whenever it inevitably surfaces in the UK. Helps that it looks great too; makes for a better toy than I’d initially imagined.

I like the inclusion of the new sonic screwdriver too; makes it fit in with the Titan comics.

This variant just so happens to be from my favourite two-parter in Series 9 so I’m excited to be getting it, even if its just a repaint. I thought there was a reason why that was included, CO and UT seem to be producing variants from TITAN Comics recently. The Ninth Doctor variant from the Thirteen Doctors set has the exact same coloured jumper as on various front covers released and it also has the dame coloured trousers as well.

I don’t actually think people are disappointed by this figure, from what I’ve read, this would have actually been the 5th announcement and it was the fourth figure/announcement that was cancelled and I think people are more upset with the fact that it’s been cancelled and they’re now left with a repaint when they think that they’re was a chance for a new figure the way UTa teased it. But I agree with you guys, I’m very excited for the three new Doctor figures!

      October 27th, 2016 - 10:15pm

So getting a new Twelfth Doctor in a hoodie with not one but two new variants to choose from is a let down? That is nothing, how about last year when they gave us four variants of him in different coloured shirts where the vast majority were inaccurate. The purple shirt variant was supposed to be burgandy like in Robot of Sherwood and it wasn’t, the black shirt variant was supposed to be very dark blue as seen in Time Heist, (this was messed up twice as the variant in the Thirteen Doctors set is still inacurrate) the Polka dot variant from Kill the Moon’s polka dots were way too big and of course the infamous Twelfth Doctor in white shirt variant had no cardigan or waistcoat.

    • Anonymous

      October 27th, 2016 - 10:24pm

Yes, the variants of the 12 doctors seris 8 outfits were shockingly bad last wave, and so was the other figures too, but I think what we mean is we don’t want to constantly get repaints of the same figure when there are plenty more figures people want and have been asking for. Especially series 9 stuff. Yeah, this is from series 9 but what about monsters or updated companions, cough cough* blue ozwin* cough cough.

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

      October 27th, 2016 - 10:30pm

I’m happy someone agrees with me on the Twelfth Doctor variants, the best figure released last year was the Night of the Doctor Eighth Doctor without a doubt. I mean don’t get me wrong I would really like some new monsters but we won’t get any unless we buy what CO and UT release. I’m sure they will get round to releasing them eventually but I think their main aim is to release what would be popular in the US and at the moment doctor variants seem to be very good sellers.

If the last figure has been cancelled, then it was possible it was just a re-release, I would hope they’d wouldn’t scrap a new figure. Or maybe it’s just a mix up, this figure wasn’t supposed to be revealed till next week, maybe this is what they are talking about, we can only hope.
