Doctor Who 5.5″ The Curator Collectors Set

The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in the 50th anniversary special.

In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion.

All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him…

At the conclusion of this story the Eleventh Doctor meets the Curator, the mysterious guardian of the painting now revealed to be called: “Gallifrey Falls, No More”.

The Curator seems to know a lot more about the Doctor than he lets on, a mystery that still remains unsolved…

  • Includes a Curator Figure, Lenticular Gallifrey Falls Painting, Walking Stick.
  • “In years to come, you might find yourself… revisiting a few. But just the old favourites, eh?”
  • For ages 5 years and over. Styles may vary.

“So yesterday morning we were sent a box of production samples of action figures we’ve been working on over the last nine months.

Most of them haven’t even been announced yet so we can’t talk about them but one figure, The Curator, went on sale yesterday so we thought you might like to see some ‘behind the scenes’ renders of the original sculpt. He was sculpted in ZBrush and rendered in Keyshot.”

I made a day trip to Whona’s offices the other day. Incredible fan items on display there , when you make an appointment to tour it. Got my white and black shirt 12th Doctor figures, and the Curator boxed figure as well. Loving them all. I tried to swap the head on the Doctor, but stopped. Doesn’t feel like it comes off, and I don’t want to break it.

I think for £30 they could’ve at least given us a little easel for the picture to stand on. How are you supposed to display the thing once it’s opened, actually hang it on the wall?

If these figures that appeared at Comiccon are being released at Forbidden planet, I wonder what Toys R us will be getting along with the Flight control TARDIS? Interesting! 🙂 Hopefully some new stuff we haven’t even seen yet.

WhoNA got three packaging options: Mint, Non-Mint, and Smashed.
I guess that might be what they mean by “Styles may vary.”

It’s saying the style of the figure may vary. I.e. The paint may be slightly a different colour or might not be exactly the same pattern

I wonder if the head is a pop off one. I also think it is expensive for what it is.
$29.95 in the US is £19.21. 12th Doctor is $16.95-£10.87 which is selling for £14.99.

I think it’s great… But what’s the real point of it? I mean we don’t even know who the curator really is? And the painting is cool besides that what’s the real point of making it?

Such a shame about the price, for £30 I’d like to see more than on figure and two accessories. Don’t get me wrong it’s a wonderful sculpt, but £30? Really queen?

I think FP are having to import these with import duty and then the VAT we have to pay which USA don’t

      would explain the price

    • yognot

      September 18th, 2015 - 6:45pm

The price is ludicrous? It’s only thirty pounds. I mean in dollars that’s…. $46.70… Yeah that’s expensive.

To be honest I have been more excited about this release than the 12th Doctor figures (mainly because no effort has been put into the 12th Doctor release). The Curator is a very interesting addition to the shows mythology and this figure is great for collectors…however I am so annoyed we have to pay so much for it. The price (esp with FPIs postage fees) actually made me hesitate before ordering even though I have been waiting for this.

FPI doing it again, releasing one figure at a time, dispatching the pre-orders before announcing the next thing so we have to pay postage on every order.
