Diamond Classic Doctor Who Hologram 10th Doctor

Diamond Classic is an unofficial title give to a series of re-releases issued in “Diamond” packaging. These re-releases were distributed mostly in the USA and Australia by Underground Toys. Some eventually found their way to the UK.

The Doctor has appeared as a projected hologram via the TARDIS interface on a few occasions, most often in an emergency situation to project himself into somewhere he cannot physically travel or in his place when indisposed.

Here the Doctor is seen as TARDIS Security Protocol 712, a holographic projection from the episode “Blink” when he appeared to Sally Sparrow and Larry Nightingale while they were under attack by the Weeping Angels.

The Hologram 10th Doctor was first released as a BBC shop exclusive as a loose figure with no packaging (shown below right). At the same time they also had loose 10th Doctor Sonic screwdrivers suggesting these were from some abandoned “time capsule” set.

The Diamond Classic version is a a variant with with noticeably different colourings.

If it’s in the blister card packaging it should absolutely have the black banding on the figure. If I doesn’t, it’s a bootleg/knock-off and you should be able to apply to Amazon for a refund.

This figure was a actually available on the UK site last year. There’s a couple of sellers who seem to be able to get hold of some of the older figures and sets, though the supplies are inevitably thinning now.

Interesting to see what diamond classics releases as we are still waiting on a TVM serious face in hat seventh doctor, TVM Master in time lord robes and a night of the doctor eighth doctor figure to name but a few.

Or are diamond classics focusing on re-releases?

So this more or less takes away all value and rarity from the 50th one?

To be fair, the previous version is still available from BBCShop for 9 quid, so its not a massive deal if it gets a re-release.

I bought one of these from the BBC shop, it’s a great figure and goes well with my Ninth Doctor Holographic and glass and holographic Daleks!

When I got this from BBC shop it was a great figure but just like every 10th doctor figure the hands broke if you tried twisting them, I think I will try and get this one to replace my 1 handed one

Were you trying to replicate “The Christmas Invasion”, if so all you need now is Captain Jack’s backpack and put the original one in?

I will get this too, but only out of love for David T.’s Doctor. He’s the only Doctor that I have actually met. Nice to see these figures come back around, I missed the original release on this. I am very happy with this unexpected bit of classic Who figure release news. And there was much rejoicing…”Yaaaaay.”

MORE OF variant. instead of just being shoved in a plastic bag it is now nicely packaged with a far superior brand new paint application
