ALERT! ALERT! THESE MICRO FIGURES ARE IN TOYS R US!

I found them out of their cardboard box: Three of them hidden amongst some sports stars brix, also loose on the shelf. For £1.99 each I got an Angel, a Silent and Dalek Sec.

The only new figures in this wave are the sontarn, judoon and the 11th doctor. 9th Dr and 10th Dr were in the 11 doctors blind bag waves. The black Dalek, the silent and the cyberman (which is a diffrent varient to what is pictured here) was avalible in an Argos set, the gold Dalek and the Vashta narada were part of wave 3, the weeping angel is from wave 1 and the yellow Dalek is was an exclusive to a newspaper offer. I hope this helps 🙂

Can someone please let me know if the display brix noted as “New Series” is classed as Series 4, as I’ve seen on Google a version of Series 4 and it includes the War Doctor, Captain Jack, Clara Oswald in a blue dress and Oswin Oswald (called Clara red dress). Please let me know as I was really looking forward to those figures until I saw the figures available in the new display brix “New Series”

The ones you saw are “Series 4”, the ones in shops are just called “New Series” (without any number, possibly because it is mostly existing figures).

You know – these are great but they could have done so much more even as a place holder wave. Blue suit Doctor, Fez Doctor in purple outfit, keep the Gold and Sec Daleks, keep the Judoon and Sontaran. Along with the open mouth Silence, Replace the Cybus Man with the lighter grey Cyber Man (no C logo).

But they didn’t. And it makes me sad.

This week, I made it London and bought a stack of single Display Brix figures. Luckily, these included the Sontaran, Judoon, 11th with Fez and a Dalek Sec, and avoided either the 9th or 10th Doctors.

The Sontaran and Judoon have been a long wait and have pride of place leading their Series 3 helmeted versions on a bookshelf. I noticed that the 11th Doctor has had something of a change of eyes and mouth print (slightly thicker).

The Display Brix format appeals to me, the boxes are neat and compact, look good on display, and opening them without the benefit of a grope made the experience more exciting.

Overall, I hope CB get a good response to the Display Brix and we see more Doctor Who waves soon.

Also, CB snuck in a slightly different design for the Judoon Captain’s torso.

Again interesting – CB have chosen to label the release “New Series” rather than a numbered series as they have with all other Display Brix releases. This may suggest it is an interim release, pending a fresh wave of micro figures soon.

Of course, it could be simply a statement to get us buying fast 🙂

I ordered eight Sports Stars bricks from character online and received 7 bricks with the same five figures (Oscar, Hazard, Sigurdsson, Allen, & Kompany). I emailed Customer Service and they said that all bricks are randomized and I’m S.o.L. I understand that its the luck of the draw, but if distributions is truly random, the odds of pulling the same five figures out of 88 in seven bricks is about .05%. I’ll never buy bricks or from Character Online again. I spent over $140 USD and basically received 10 unique figures. ebay is better option.

It’s possible this is some kind of practice wave and instead of wasting money on new figures they are just using old ones that are tweaked slightly, therefore if this is unsuccessful they won’t have lost out on much. Or they may of course just have been lazy, but I would have thought they haven’t made any new ones for no reason.

    • 100000BC

      December 22nd, 2013 - 7:47pm

I think it’s either a ‘practice wave’ or a ‘refresher’ wave to keep people up to date with some of the older figures.
For example, they can’t re-release the Cybus Cyberman in series 4, 5 and 6 can they?

I’m sure someone who buys the 5 pack will let us know which 5 figures it is. That will save people wasting money and probably hurt sales of the 5 pack as I think on it.

    • BRick

      December 19th, 2013 - 2:54pm

While I see some positives to five Judoon or Sontaran, even with loads of CB Doctors in my house, I would feel a bit let down by FIVE Fezzed Doctors in something calling itself a variety pack. And more importantly for the prosperity of the line, I cannot see the casual collector or funding parent being too amused

    • 100000BC

      December 19th, 2013 - 3:09pm

Sorry – I’m confused, and so, it seems from reading these comments, is everyone else. Some people are talking about 5 of the same figure (e.g. 5x Fez Doctor) and some are talking about the same 5 different figures in each set (e.g. getting a fez doc, Dalek Sec, Judoon, Sontaran and Cyberman in every 5 pack). So which one is it?

Truly disgusting! My Who friends call this the ‘Mish-Mash Pile’ – I can’t even bring myself to call it a set! On reflection, it really is just a set of re-releases bunged in a pile. The only thing it has going for it, is the actual Display Brix…

    • BRick

      December 19th, 2013 - 2:59pm

I am not so disgusted by the line as you. I am pleased about the four or five new/rarely seen figures, and note Daleks, Cybermen, Silents and Angels on the Christmas Special trailer – I think it is important for the casual buyer that key recently figured aliens are in the set.

But here’s hoping for a completely new series in time for the Ninth Doctor’s full debut.
