I also feel that way, but they should at least release CB figures soon. I can wait till June.

CHARACTER SHOULD REALLY PUT THOSE PRICES DOWN AS PART OF A CLEAROUT TO MAKE WAY FOR FUTURE WAVES, EVEN IF IT MEANS A SMALL LOSS ON CERTAIN WAVES. ITS GETTING AS THOUGH THERE OUTPRICIING ITS INTENDED MARKET-CHILDREN.THAT IS WHY COLLECTORS WITH MONEY TO SPEND GET IN FIRST,AND IS WHY SO MUCH IS LEFT ON THE SHELVES.

All Doctor Who merchandise is marketed with the collector in mind as it is a given market. Without the collector, much of the merchandise would not exist and probably not even the 2005+ programme itself.

It is because of the older collectors, who faithfully bought as much as they could pre 2005 that allowed the BBC to realise an even bigger revenue stream from a new Doctor Who. Fortunately the rejuvenated programme is absolutely wonderful and I will just have to suffer no more holidays abroad again to pay for all the merchandise…

I THINK CHARACTER OPTIONS MIGHT DISAGREE WITH YOU,MONITOR. THE INTENDED MARKET ARE CHILDREN FIRST AND COLLECTORS SECOND. ALTHOUGH I AGREE THAT WITHOUT COLLECTORS,ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO COLLECT THE CLASSIC SETS,IT WOULDN,T OPEN THE MARKET UP AS MUCH FOR THE NEW SERIES STUFF.

Depends on the figures, the £10 ones yes, primary market children, secondary market collectors (to buy all the rereleases and permutations).

But with the classic series that cost 70% more, I think the cost and gorgeous packaging is more designed to sit on a shelf unopened.

Either way, I think the cost is too high. I know plenty of collectors who have now given up on going to FP regularly because there have been far too many releases recently. They will wait a few years and get the loose figures individually second hand.

I have used the exact words in the press release but there are 2 forbidden planets and thsi probably concerns just one of them. – i dont know but it could be unallocated stock (surplus to their long term requirements) so they will still have it in shops and on the website for now. To be honest i dont actually know what’s behind this move.

I buy these sets within a few days of FP releasing them and a couple of my friends do to. But it seems a lot of people don’t and my nearest FP is absolutely saturated with these sets.

My view is that I feel that £27 is too much for just two figures, but if I don’t buy them and FP disappears from the high street then I will have much more to lose.

Whatever these sets are “limited” to (3000 or 5000) has clearly been way too high with the sheer number of sets coming out.

Out of this there is bound to be change.

I have two so I can have a worthy Necros Army, and have two Necros daleks against three Gunmetal Grey Daleks (two Revalation, one ressurection) and the Supreme Dalek, I even thought out my ressurection standard dalek as a “second in command”.

no they have bought up surplus stock from FP and are selling them at a lower price point at the moment

    • Judooning

      April 14th, 2012 - 1:50pm

Ahh, so this is just to get rid of old stock then.

It’s either good because it means they are making way for new figures…

Or it’s bad because they just want rid of the figures now. (Which i’m sure isn’t the case)

      April 14th, 2012 - 1:56pm

Ok thanks, I think this is a good idea as if they continue to do this you don’t have to rush to buy the sets straight away. Not to mention it makes it more manageable regarding money, staggering purchases without the fear of the sets becoming unavailable.
