Doctor Who B&M Exclusive 2019 8th Doctor / Dalek Set

Comments are disabled on all B&M posts so they can be concentrated in the Stocks Arrive thread.

Character Options presents a set of three unique Doctor & Dalek Twin Packs, inspired by the Doctor Who audio series from Big Finish.

Sets will be available in B&M stores from Late August

This includes a brand new take on the Eighth Doctor, plus the Dalek Interrogator Prime. The two additional Doctor and Daleks sets to be released from this range will feature the Seventh and War Doctors respectively.

There will be a second and much more limited version of each set with slight variations and exclusive to Big Finish. These will arrive shortly after the B&M stock and there will only be 150 of each.

Images shown here are of the mass market B&M Sets. The will be 1000’s of these available in stores

Both the B&M set and the Big Finish sets are marked as Limited Editions.

Following the announcement earlier in June of this summer’s Big Finish-inspired Doctor Who merchandise from Character Options, a first preview image has been made available as a taste of what is to come.

The image released is that of the Eighth Doctor and Dalek set featuring a new version of the Doctor action figure in his ‘Dark Eyes’ inspired costume, along with Interrogator Dalek.

Steve Berry, Head of Marketing at Big Finish said: “We are delighted to be working with Character Options on this project and cannot wait to see the items in store. Since the news broke that the sets will soon be available, we have been inundated with requests for an image. We hope that this small taste will add to the excitement of the Character Options online reveal taking place in July.”

The new Big Finish items will be all part of a wider line-up of Character Options Doctor Who figures and accessories coming to B&M retail stores this summer.

Al Dewar, Creative Director at Character Options commented: “As you can imagine we’ve been keeping this inventive collaboration under wraps for a while so it’s fantastic to be able to release this first image of these unique additional sets to the B&M store range. As announced previously we plan to do a full unveiling live, which will take place ‘unboxing style’ on Character Options’ own You Tube channel in July; details of the time and date will be announced soon.”

HI, I live in Glasgow and wentt o the B&M Store in Motherwell and noticed that mainly they had multiples of the old 9th doctor figure collector set but for anyone still looking to pick up the 4th doctor regenerated Tardis set (for those who did not managed to buy it) There were at least 5 – 6 of the 4th doctor Tardis sets lying on the top shelf?. Just thought I would post this on the forum if that is permissible and I was at the Motherwell B&M Store at 12 noon today?. Thanks and Regards Tom.

Went into my local B&M today and chatted to a worker, who is fans of the show. He said all stores will only receive new stock unless the old ones have sold. (Basingstoke, Norfolk and Bognor) still have old stock. Once their stock is cleared, they will get the sets, but only those that are still in the warehouse meaning that if the dalek set sells out, they might not get them in.

Which store was this I will take it up with b@m

Sounds like scaremongering and pretty poor for customers

The new sets all have different codes precisely to avoid what that store said I thought

The tardis is set might be an issue however unless they have a plan

Any business should know you might actually move more of the old stock by bring people back to store to see the new stuff

Basingstoke is my local store, it has awful staff, rude and useless so I’d take it with a pinch of salt. Hopefully someone will sweep away the old stock from Bstoke.

      July 3rd, 2019 - 6:41pm

loads of stores have the revised sets, that was the idea of them to keep DW on the shelves and expand the range with new items.

    • Do you like my hugs?

      July 6th, 2019 - 12:04pm

Heading into Basingstoke store now, I might try to pick up a couple revised sets, see what there is etc.

Is it possible we can get a list of every known store these sets will be in to save going to b&m stores which do not have these?

      June 30th, 2019 - 10:08pm

      only B&M can supply that

  • Judooning

    June 30th, 2019 - 7:08pm

I wonder if the scalpers will have learnt their lesson this time with more stock about. I doubt it, you’ll still get people who’ll panic and pay the Ebay prices.

  • Grant

    June 30th, 2019 - 11:14am

Am I right in saying that CO don’t have the imperial Dalek mould anymore? I heard that years ago, not sure of the validity of it though. If true, then It’s probably not going to be included with the 7th Doctor. It could possibly be the jam jars/torch eye supreme Dalek with a slight repaint from the Genocide Machine.

    • Ben Delany

      July 29th, 2019 - 9:13pm

Due to cost, no new moulds were made for them main body of the emperial dalek, are you talking about the head lamp, gun and plunger moulds?

  • BlackKaiser

    June 30th, 2019 - 9:03am

Any predictions for the other two sets? I’m thinking one will be the War Doctor and the Dalek Time Strategist, hopefully they won’t just give a Supreme Dalek a paint job though. I’m hoping it’s a new Seventh Doctor figure, maybe his New Adventures or movie costume, but I have no idea what Dalek they’ll use.

    • booboo

      June 30th, 2019 - 9:09am

anything they do will be just a repaint, anything else would be way beyond the budget of these sets. Suspect we will get a white gold with the 7th, probably a sought after re-releases and another repaint of a NSD with the War Doctor. Not seen them so don’t really know just guesses

    • BlackKaiser

      June 30th, 2019 - 11:06am

booboo, yeah I assumed they’d just be repaints. Thing is if this is a partnership with Big Finish, I’d assume that the Dalek would be from one of those stories. But I can’t think of any distinctive Dalek they could use from the Seventh Doctor era. If they did other waves it would cool if they did
The Sixth Doctor and the Dalek Time Controller from Patient Zero
Eighth Doctor and Dalek Overseer from Planet of the Ogrons
Eighth Doctor and Emperor Dalek Davros from Terror Firma

    • Acefan2005

      July 2nd, 2019 - 8:12am

I want the overseer so badly also the glass Stained Dalek would b great

Boo Boo do u k if there will b anymore sets with Daleks After this?

    • booboo

      July 2nd, 2019 - 8:22am

if these sell OK (and i think they will) then perhaps a few more but there is a limits to how many variants, especially of Doctors can be done now.

New sculpts are out of the question with the cost and quantities involved

There had been a lot of talk about that stained glass Dalek but the paintwork would be a nightmare to duplicate.

  • Bob James

    June 30th, 2019 - 1:18am

This is awesome! I once thought we’d never see a release like this. I’m good for two!

  • Freddo01

Will they arrive in every b&m store?

  • Dominic

    June 29th, 2019 - 5:57pm

Do we have envy news on the tardis conpanion set because I an worried that it’s cancelled

    • booboo

      June 29th, 2019 - 6:30pm

      hopefully next year

    • The 14th doctor!

      June 29th, 2019 - 10:49pm

Personally I think it would make sense if each companion is released separately.

  • Anonymous

    June 29th, 2019 - 5:19pm

Is that Dalek accurate to how it’s described in the audio story?

    • SJF

      June 29th, 2019 - 5:34pm

It isn’t described in the audio story.

But CO worked with Big Finish to come up with the design for it, so it’s accurate in the sense that Big Finish agree that that is what it looks like.

  • The Werewolf

    June 29th, 2019 - 4:29pm

Since these have a different packaging and are two-packs rather than three-packs, is there any chance a store still drowning in the Ninth Doctor sets from before being able to get some of these in?

    • booboo

      June 29th, 2019 - 4:33pm

different codes so they should do, the new 3 packs are also individually coded now so again shouldn’t be an issue, New Tardis’s maybe an issue if some stores have loads

    • The Werewolf

      June 29th, 2019 - 8:29pm

Thanks booboo, I look forward to seeing something new for a change

Will these sets be released in America cause i live in america and i’m working on a Eighth Doctor action figure web series i really need this Dark Eyes 8th Doctor

    • booboo

      June 29th, 2019 - 8:41am

not at the Moment, only seven20 can manufacturer/distribute in North America right now, before seven20’s go it alone stance you might have got these.

  • Efcdalek

    June 29th, 2019 - 2:51am

Will the set arrive on the day it is announced for every b&m store or will some be delayed

When would you say it’ll arrive in stores

    • booboo

      June 29th, 2019 - 8:38am

they are sent to the central warehouse, then to regional distribution centers then to stores so bound to be variation as when stores get them

i must get one looks Absolutely fabulous ❤️❤️

  • Subzaltys

    June 28th, 2019 - 3:22pm

How disappointing, this isn’t even the right Dalek, this is an eternity circle dalek from the Engines Of War book, and that Doctor is from Dark Eyes but the box says it should be the time war, the dalek interrogator prime was the one on the front of the Planet Of The Ogrons cover as seen here: https://indiemacuser.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/dw8dtw0202_planetoftheogrons_1417.jpg
    I’m pretty sure

    • Kenny

      June 28th, 2019 - 4:03pm

Yes it IS the correct Dalek. The designation came from writer Guy Adams. It was meticulously checked.

You are thinking of the Sec-like Dalek on Planet of the Orgons.

    • BlackKaiser

      June 30th, 2019 - 9:05am

The Dalek in Planet of the Ogrons is called the Dalek Overseer. That would be a cool figure too though.

  • Ollie

    June 28th, 2019 - 2:22pm

So this is the Eighth Doctor in his ‘Dark Eyes’ costume but the Dalek Interrogator Prime is from ‘The Time War’ series of stories? Have I got that right?

I would have thought, in terms of marketability, they would have released some repaints of the classic Dalek moulds, e.g. the 60s Daleks from ‘The Chase’ and ‘Enemies of the First Doctor’ sets and then repainted them in line with the ‘Dark Eyes’ covers.

    • SJF

      June 28th, 2019 - 11:17pm

I’m gonna be that guy and say that actually it’s a Doom Coalition/Ravenous Eight because of the Time War era hair.

    • Pjd94

      June 29th, 2019 - 8:37am

What if you swap the head on this figure for the McGann head that came with the original War Doctor figure? Would that make it correct?

    • SJF

      June 29th, 2019 - 5:37pm

It would but I’m not sure the Dark Eyes would be compatible with that Ninth Doctor body.

  • Grant

    June 28th, 2019 - 2:13pm

This looks great! Nice packaging too! So glad we are still getting 5 inch figures after all these years!

  • Pusher

    June 28th, 2019 - 1:14pm

Ok, this can do. I REALLY love the design of this dalek and packaging. I made a custom of that dalek years ago but I’m happy to lay hands on an officially released one. It looks swell.

    • Pusher

      June 28th, 2019 - 1:43pm

i also really hope they draw an ID tag below the eyestalk, they skipped that on the Imperial guard dalek with the 9th doctor. It was achieved on the accurate sculpted dalek sec and all the bronze daleks

When will we get pictures for the other sets?

    • booboo

      June 28th, 2019 - 11:50am

not until the live unveiling video sometime in July

    • Anonymous

      June 28th, 2019 - 12:33pm

Why don’t we get new sculpts any more?We used to get one every month

    • booboo

      June 28th, 2019 - 12:40pm

because they were Part funded by Underground Toys for the USA market with Character dealing with the UK.

Underground Toys changed to seven20 and wanted to do their own figures for the USA with a split licence (and you have seen the result of that, one figure who know one seems have a clue as to where it is),

That means that, at least at the moment CO only serves the UK market and retailers are just not interested enough at the moment.

That said sets like this would never ever had happened if not for B&M, some compromises yes, but unachievable otherwise.

  • Landi Demukaj

    June 28th, 2019 - 11:29am

Im a bit confused are the B and M sets different and are they also limited

    • booboo

      June 28th, 2019 - 11:33am

the pictures are of the B&M sets and they are “limited” in the sense that they will probably be a one of run and when they are gone they are gone, but there will be 1000’s of these sets so no need to panic.

its only the variant set that Big Finish will get to sell online that restricted to 150 units.
