A pretty good write up for this series in the latest DWM but still not enough to tempt me I’m afraid.

A great new trilogy for New Earth could have been what happened outside and in-between the stories.

    1. Cassandra gets revived with the skin from the other side of her body, in this we could get to see her being taken to the hospital and getting her suspicions over the sisters. It could be lead by Zoe Wanamaker. Heavily features Novice Hame.

    2. The Sisters get arrested, and Novice Hame gets redemption, this could be a NNYPD type of scenario and takes place in a prison with a host of other characters.

    3. Novice Hame after the events of Gridlock, could feature the aftermath of the emotions drug dealers.

This could further develop Novice Hame’s character, would have been more interesting I believe.

I think you should probably keep an open mind. BigFinish’s writing team consistently delivers exceptional high quality stories. They really do.

Year on year they win industry awards and are now UKs largest producer of audio theatre outside of BBC Radio 4.

I think we should all be grateful and not forget AudioGo collapsed a few years ago (an ex-BBC AudioBook company 20x bigger than them). Without BigFinish there would be no Dr. Who Audio.

And everyone who torrents their stuff should realise your only digging your own grave. It can take them years to break even and just recover the costs of a single release. That’s without making a single dollar of profit.

If you enjoy their stuff, for goodness sake, either buy it or contribute by legally listening to it for free via Spotify. At least that way the actors, writers and every other person involved gets paid for their work.

Imagine how’d you feel if yr boss said “sorry I can’t pay you this week too many customers refused to pay and just stole our product “. That would really suck wouldn’t it? Well smaller producers of creative content, writers etc like BigFinish can’t survive if everyone steals their work.

You’d be surprised how incredibly expensive producing even 1 hour of an audio play is. Become an ex-torrenter like me and you can buy stuff on special monthly at BigFinish for less than £5 a title. In fact, the 1st 100 Monthly Titles now cost only £2.99 to download (they’ve 2 Hrs or 4 Ep. Long)! Now that’s far cheaper than the Movies isn’t it!

I’m really at a take it or leave it mindset with the programme right now, let alone all this spin off nonsense.

I watched just one episode of the last series, and that was while in the gymnasium, with subtitles – and then only because it was on.

The audio plays etc just don’t do it for me – and in many (not all) instances are scraping the proverbial barrel.

I think that I will stick to my classic series interest, with DVD and Target book.

Last series was the best for a long while. It’s a shame you didn’t try it out.

The audios are great you probably just lack the imagination to make them come alive

Just out of interest, what episode was it because series 10 did have a couple of bad stories but for the most part pretty good.

The episode I saw was the last one. I’ve brought the series 10 box sets and will be catching up during one or three autumn evenings. I did enjoy the return of the classic series Cybermen.

For the first time since 1979 I’d not watched DW at first broadcast, or at least recorded it. I’ve heard good things about s10 so will give it a go.

As for the audios and imagination – sorry, they just don’t come to life for me – and that’s even with a lorry load of imagination!

This trilogy of television stories was not my favourite at all, so I will probably give this one a miss. It does have Derek Griffiths in the cast though and Big Finish usually put out good stuff, but with them releasing so many other good ranges at the moment, I really do have to think about the cost of what seems initially to be a spin off too far. I also hope this doesn’t mean more New Earth coming up in the Tenth Doctor and Rose audios.

I agree. This does not excite me at all! I liked the story’s of The end of the World and New Earth, I just found the characters annoying.
I would much rather Big Finish explore Davros in the Time Was as I loved the War Doctor and and am looking forward to the War Master.

This release really is proof Big Finish are running out of ideas and scraping the bottom of the barrel. New Earth was a poor episode from 11 years ago, hardly crying out for a spin off. Bizarre, unwanted and bound to flop.

Just look it at providing canon to side characters; perfect for expanding their wiki pages lol

Personally have to disagree AT. I feel if they can take a Poor idea and put a fresh spin on it then I feel they should go for it 🙂

Um…No Thanks. I didn’t like the episode ‘New Earth’. It really set back and overshadowed my enjoyment of David Tennant’s Doctor until ‘The Impossible Planet’ came along. ‘New Earth’ was worse than ‘Fear Her’! I know these cd’s are a spin off, the damage has already been done.

I believe this would require them to get a whole different license from the BBC to be able to sell books versions. in there eyes it is probably not worth it.

That’s probably a shame as there are some great stories on audio, and the full cast plays are more of a drama than a straight audio reading. Maybe try one of the cheaper single releases rather than dive in with this box set though, an see if you enjoy. I sometimes listen when driving or doing something else.

I wonder if the 10th doctor will appear in this as he is on the front cover so would suggest maybe a cameo or maybe actually being in one full episode???
