Big Finish Gallifrey: Series 6 Box Set

Big Finish Gallifrey: Series 6 Box Set

Out in October

22. EXTERMINATION

Gallifrey Fights…

Having infiltrated the Axis, the Daleks have secured access to a myriad alternative realities and, with them, countless Gallifreys… every one with secrets to be plundered.

As her new world falls to the might of the Dalek invasion force, Romana finds herself struggling to keep her friends alive as the Capitol collapses around her.

Against all odds, there may be a way out – back to the Axis and, potentially, back home. But desperate times call for desperate measures and, ultimately, sacrifices…

23. RENAISSANCE

Gallifrey Lies…

Returning to her original homeworld, Romana finds Gallifrey to be cold and empty… the corridors of the Capitol lie silent and the wastelands are populated only by a handful of primitive monsters.

Her only hope lies with the appearance of a strange young woman: a woman with a masterplan so devious it makes Romana’s own masterplans look decidedly not-devious-at-all…

How far would Romana go to save her world? Would she risk the Web of Time? And who is the mysterious stranger watching from the shadows…?

23. ASCENSION

Gallifrey Rises…

Romana’s sacrifice sees Gallifrey restored to its former glory, but at a terrible cost.

As the Time Lords begin to reclaim their stronghold, Leela and Narvin find themselves trapped in a decaying reality… and only K9 can help them.

As old friends fight to reunite, new threats lie in wait…

Because Braxiatel was right: war is coming.

I assuming this is not about the Time War, but what happens just before the Time War ? . . . .

Loving this cover, though! Although altogether a fan of the Classic Series, I absolutely love/d the 2005 series, and the cover is so reminiscent of The Parting of The Ways/Bad Wolf for me! XD

The impossible has happened… the big finish Daleks have been given an upgrade! Seriously, as much as I liked the big finish look for its simplicity and classic design, was I the only one that was getting a little fed up? I would have liked a “new” design, but I am super exited about the fact that they are heading towards the time war! 😀

I think for the main range and the fourth doctor adventures it’s good that they’ve kept the 20th century series design, but now that, with a series like gallifrey, they are heading towards the time war, i think it’s time that they changed them to the 21st century design

Judging by the ID mark, looks like they’ve edited Sec’s dome onto a Dalek drone. Still an amazing cover!

The problem is when Moffat took over the licencing was reclassified. As RTD was no longer in charge and the BBC wanted to distinguish Moffat’s era, they classified it separately and placed the RTD era in with the eight Doctors who preceded his two. Thus, the classic era in terms of merchandise covers everything between 1963 and 2009, The End of Time Part Two falls into the Moffat era as his team produced and wrote the final scene. Big Finish have had the licence to use the Ninth and Tenth Doctors for a few years but have ignored them until now.

      That’s not actually true.

      July 12th, 2013 - 8:04pm

What isn’t true? It’s all been confirmed by official sources, including Nicholas Briggs on behalf of Big Finish in DWM a while back.

I don’t recall that ever being said. Care provide details on any of these sources (what issue of DWM, for example)?

if its true they need to update their website then

Will any stars of the current TV series be doing Big Finish plays?

No. The terms of our licence with the BBC allow us to only produced ‘Classic’ Doctor Who. This means that we can only use the first eight Doctors and their companions. Anything connected to the new series – even characters who are no longer featured – cannot be used by us in a Big Finish Doctor Who production. Actors from the series do often appear in audio adventures as different characters, however, and before he landed the role of the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant featured in eight Big Finish productions as assorted characters.

best thing to do is ask them outright

In response to the above question, unfortunately I can’t remember the exact issue, but it was in a feature with Nicholas Briggs being interviewed about Big Finish’s range. I’m sure if you were desperate you could find it.

However, there is one slightly easier to find one, the initial press release for Big Chief Studios claims the classic Doctors go from Hartnell to Tennant. Another slightly more awkward one to find that confirms the 1963 to 2009 thing is from Edward Russell on Twitter, but you’ll need to go back quite a bit to find it.

That is a GORGEOUS cover. Love how they’ve brought the new series daleks into it. I’ve never listened to any of the Gallifrey series, but upon seeing this, I’m considering it. Would anyone recommend it? 😀

It’s probably just on the verge of the time war. Obviously there will be some clues to what happened in the war in the 50th so obviously we’ll have the beginnging of it here small talk about what happened in it in the 50th and then if they do a gallifrey VII then we may get the time war, depending on what big finish are allowed to do with it 🙂

      July 12th, 2013 - 7:27pm

There’s been an outright ban on anything involving the Time War itself (at RTD’s insistence). In theory they can go up to it, and after it, but not do it.

      July 12th, 2013 - 8:21pm

oh, but will we see any clips during it with john hurt in the 50th? Just a couple of clips? Too be honest, I’m not bothered about NOT seeing the time war, but it would be nice just to know a bit more about what ACTUALLY happened 😀

Well if they could show Rassilon and pals on the edge of the war I’m sure we could see something of John Hurt’s Doctor, although I doubt it will be much. Especially if using The Moment caused his regeneration and is the reason the later Doctors hate him, as the younger version seen in the special wouldn’t have a clue this happened so it would have to be a flashforward as well as a flashback.
