BBC Children in Need: Got It Covered is a brand new venture from BBC One and BBC Children in Need for 2019 which involves some of the UK’s biggest names from stage and screen as they band together to produce an entire album of cover songs whilst helping to make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK.

A whole host of critically-acclaimed actors have volunteered their time to play a special part in this incredibly exciting project for BBC Children in Need – HELENA BONHAM CARTER CBE, JIM BROADBENT, OLIVIA COLMAN CBE, SHAUN DOOLEY, LUKE EVANS, SURANNE JONES, ADRIAN LESTER, HIMESH PATEL, DAVID TENNANT and JODIE WHITTAKER.

A special 60-minute programme follows the entire recording process and explores all the behind-the-scenes action as the actors face the challenging task of laying down their bespoke tracks at the legendary RAK Studios and Abbey Road Studios in London.

  • 1. Olivia Colman – Glory Box
  • 2. Adrian Lester – I Wish
  • 3. Jodie Whittaker – Yellow
  • 4. Luke Evans – Smile
  • 5. Suranne Jones and Half Moon Theatre – Symphony
  • 6. Shaun Dooley and Grimethorpe Colliery Band – Never Grow Up
  • 7. Himesh Patel – All These Things That I’ve Done
  • 8. Jim Broadbent – Blue Moon
  • 9. Helena Bonham Carter – Both Sides Now
  • 10. David Tennant – Sunshine On Leith
  • 11. The Actors – It Must Be Love

Can see Jodie’s version of Yellow being played over her 13th Doctor tribute video’s on YouTube once she has given up the role.

    It’s a great album too.

Absolutely beautiful version well done. The fact that Jodies brogue can be heard ( like the Proclaimers), makes it so personal to her I think. Coldplay should be well pleased with this. I will order the cd just for Yellow.

The most brilliant programme about the making of the cd – Jodie’s version of ‘Yellow’ totally authentic, real and moving – heartfelt, full of emotion and genuine and that’s what singing is all about!

There are more and more people who prefer vinyl LP to cd or download. Why don’t they release this on vinyl. The sound quality is so much better and I’m sure that they would raise more money for a very worthwhile cause

I agree-I hate to be negative since it’s for charity, but £10 felt a lot for me to pay for a 40 minute CD-I’d rather pay £20 for those 40 minutes on vinyl to be honest because you can feel the value for money in your hands.

As only £1.50 is going to children in need, per record sale, my personal view is it’s better to just give £10 direct to the charity and listen to the songs on the radio or something. It’s a shame the record producers couldn’t have got a greater % of the cost paid to the actual charity. Especially for online sales. Unless the £1.50 is only for physical copies?
