Action Figure Set: City Of Death – Pictures

Action Figure Collectors Set: City Of Death

The Fourth Doctor and Romana II are in Paris investigating a fracture in time. During a visit to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa, the Doctor purloins from a stranger, Countess Scarlioni, a bracelet that is actually an alien scanner device. The trail leads to the home of Count Scarlioni, who is selling duplicate Mona Lisas to fund time experiments – all originals!

The Count is revealed as an alien called Scaroth, last of the Jagaroth race. He was splintered in time when his ship exploded above primeval Earth. His intention is to go back in time to prevent the destruction of his ship.

Realising that the Jagaroth spaceship exploding started life on Earth, the Doctor and Romana race back in time to stop the Count’s plan.

£24.99 or at least my local one is, so keep an eye out, you might find it cheaper in some shops than others.

I have to admit, I wasn’t terribly interested in this set (despite this being one of my favorite episodes of all time), but the official photos released by UT didn’t do it justice. The actual Julian Glover sculpt is excellent and much improved from the prototype shown, so much so that I might have to pick this one up as soon as it shows up at a local retailer. Also, I cannot wait for a Lalla Ward Romana to hit shelves (which had better be soon)!

The head is non-swappable but you CAN remove the scarf. Use that scarf on other Fourth Doctor figures, like I’m going to :)And yes that is the best feature

      November 15th, 2011 - 6:32pm

Sorry, i meant the ‘swapable’ for the Scaroth head

    • Shihan

      February 26th, 2012 - 2:30am

The Scaroth head is swappable, but mine takes a bit of effort to get on. Also, my Tom Baker one comes off, but I don’t know if it’s meant to.

I love this set overall and I look forward to getting it but I have one issue:
Is the scarf painted on both sides like the S12, 11 Doc. set, Planet of Evil set? or is it like the POM 4th Doctor, only painted on one side?

      Yes, it’s on both sides.

Got this & the Signed Version today. I have heard some quality control issues have cropped up with the ‘Mona Lisa’ painting being warped at the top due to the packaging? Look’s like I have been lucky with this Order as neither painting is warped unlike some other’s I have seen.

This box design is one of the best designs Doctor Who products have been packaged in. I am as interested in the box as the contents. With these sets the excellent dioramic picture setting the scene at the back just makes the overall package glorious.

All these recent “classic” series boxed sets sit pride of place in my collection. 2011 has been one of the best years for beautifully packaged Doctor Who products.

I saw this episode when I was five and was terrified of Scaroth, I always thought he lived in my mum’s cupboard and would come out to grab me whenever I was upstairs. I was afraid of it until I moved house.
