this is looking like a 5000 – 6000 set to me, I’m sure I saw someone in the states say they had 7000 something

    • Whovastron

      October 26th, 2016 - 3:02pm

Does this mean the whole “600” sets thing is a bit less likely?

      October 26th, 2016 - 3:29pm

more likely, FP still have their stock and there is Australia as well

so if it is 5000 then 600 to one UK retailer would make sense

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 27th, 2016 - 2:16am

The guy at UT told me he thinks it around 4000 to 5000 made. I told him about the 7000 number and he said strange cause he was told that there originally was only going to be 4000 made but ten they made some extras but he doesn’t have the exact numbers infront of him. He did say it’s possible that it could be up to 6000 but he doesn’t think it’s higher than that so hat 7000 number is strange. Oh well. Hope everyone gets one of these fantastic sets

    • booboo

      October 27th, 2016 - 8:04am

i think that 7000 maybe a red hearing

I think this is 5000 which would make the 600 figure for toys r us sound credible bearing in mind FP are supposedly due some and there is Australia as well

if that’s correct as FP don’t have it up for order it wont last long a toys r us

I’m glad we have this, but are they sure about that price?

100 pounds for what? Several slight repaints, and several complete re-releases? 5, 11 & 9 look exactly the same as before with the slightest variations.

And why is it cheaper in the US?

    Reply
    • booboo

      October 26th, 2016 - 9:29am

its not cheaper in the US, average is $149 which is £121

for once its cheaper in the UK

and the price, simply production numbers

      50,000+ of the original 11 Doctors set, 5000 – 10000 of this

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 26th, 2016 - 9:33am

No way is it cheaper in the US. It’s selling for $135 to $150 plus shipping which ranges from $13 to $22. It’s cheaper in the U.K. The price point is the way it is because it’s a limited edition set. As Booboo said, they have made 4000 to possibly 10000 sets. It’s not a mass produced item!

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 26th, 2016 - 9:35am

Also, the Doctors 5, 11, and 9 look way better than there original releases. You can’t judge this set from photos. You have to see the figures in hand. In hand, these figures are really something special.

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

      October 26th, 2016 - 10:15am

I disagree, the Ninth Doctor is one of my favourite figures in this set mainly because of how good the figure looks and the detail on the leather jacket is amazing. The Eleventh Doctor variant is the best Series 5 figure of him we have got as it is a massive improvement from the original and the paint applied to it actually makes the sculpt ressemble Matt Smith this time around. The Fifth Doctor variant isn’t very exciting I will admit but I missed out on the Resurrection of the Daleks set variant so this is a good replacement for that figure and the Sonic Screwdriver now finally has the white strip painted on it which the original lacked.

    • Inspector

      October 26th, 2016 - 10:44am

It isn’t cheaper in the U.S. as they all said, but I do partially agree that maybe we didn’t get everything we should’ve. The Twelfth Doctor could’ve come with his new sonic. We know it exists because of the Series 9 variant.

    • booboo

      October 26th, 2016 - 10:47am

the new sonic is probably in the same tooling block as the new 12th doctor so it would not be possible to include it with this

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 26th, 2016 - 10:35pm

The sonic is brand new. They didn’t have it at the time this set was being made so they couldn’t have included it.

it came directly from CO customer services to several people who enquired about the set sometime ago

that was a few months ago so its possible the situation has changed but no one has said otherwise

    • CaptainJimiPie

      October 25th, 2016 - 11:27am

Would it be possible to post a screenshot of the email/message that they said this in? I’m not saying I don’t believe it (well maybe a little because it seems very odd to me that the UK would get so few) but more because I’ve actually yet to see any evidence of this apart from people saying they’ve been told it.

I may email CO customer service myself though

    • booboo

      October 25th, 2016 - 11:31am

I dont have it but I know it was sent to Ian (as in Guinness book of records) at least.

It was said to have come from Tracey Jump

but yes I would agree, had they been taking pre orders they would have sold half the stock by now if not all of it

    • CaptainJimiPie

      October 25th, 2016 - 11:31am

UPDATE : I previously emailed TRU UK and they have said “Toys R Us Direct is unable to advise of stock levels with store”.

This sounds more like an official line than any confirmation of whether the “600” rumour is true or not, so that doesn’t reveal much more however I am currently emailing CO Customer Service to see what information they can offer

    • CaptainJimiPie

      October 25th, 2016 - 11:46am

Well in a discussion I have on Twitter if you look at it logically it doesn’t make sense because of stock reasons as you say.

They’re number by a 5 digit number, so lets assume they made at the very minimum 10,000. Which means the UK will get less than a quarter of the total stock. Other figures suggested that the US gets 3000, which leaves then a potential 7000 left over, so assuming that the only other countries to get them were the UK and AUS it means the UK should atleast get 2,500 sets.

However as the UK and AUS are not the only like ones to get any even if you factor in atleast another two possible countries that may get them it still means that the UK would potentially get atleast 1,250+ sets

Again obviously this is all just logical assumptions and heresy and perhaps the 600 rumour is correct (after all the UK Time Crash set was only limited to 100) but when you consider that they must have ATLEAST made 10,000 sets but possibly knowing it would be popular, made more than that, the idea that the UK will only get 600 in total seems very odd

    • booboo

      October 25th, 2016 - 11:51am

We also assume FP are getting some.

    • CaptainJimiPie

      October 25th, 2016 - 11:56am

That is true, pretty much whichever way you add it up the 600 sets for the UK, doesn’t really seem to add up…literally when you consider potential overall stock numbers.

When and if I get a reply from CO I’ll post it or tweet it and post a link.

    • booboo

      October 25th, 2016 - 12:00pm

they only thing i do know is that when that figure was mentioned it seems Toys r us had not committed to taking the set, perhaps they thought it wasn’t enough so re negotiated.

there is probably lots that goes on behind the scenes that we never know about.

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 25th, 2016 - 1:43pm

I really don’t think they made 10,000 sets. When I inquired with UT USA he didn’t have the number off the top of his head but he’s the one that told me that they only made around 4 to 5000 sets total. I told him what u said Booboo that u saw a numbered Set that had 7000 in it but he hasn’t replied yet. It could make sense that the U.K. Is only getting around 1200 or so sets(600 for TRU and 600 for FPI).

    • CaptainJimiPie

      October 25th, 2016 - 2:16pm

At the risk of offering up more rough figures according to Toys R Us themselves, there are 81 stores in the UK, that means that if there’s only 600 sets in the whole of the UK stores, and the sets are going to be shared amongst each one, then it means that each store will only get 7 sets max (the actual figure being 7.4 per store so some stores may end up with more and others none at all)

So if there really are only 600 even for just TRU, unless they plan to limit to one per customer then there’s going to be alot of disappointed people when the people that buy 4 at a time swoop in!
Even assuming they only sold them at their major city stores (call it 40 out of 81, again roughly) that means there would still only be maybe 15 sets per store…whichever way you look at it 600 seems like a VERY low amount for a whole chain of 81 shops.

    • Omega63

      October 25th, 2016 - 5:02pm

Sometimes I feel like CO and UT are their own downfall – market this stuff correctly on social media, produce more of it, the price they can sell it at falls as more people have the opportunity to buy it, then even more buy it due to a cheaper price. Look at NOTD 8, so many still want him, yet CO and UT basically tell us that they can’t afford to produce figures as they don’t sell as well as they used to – then they produce figures that clearly are so limited to the point that they are restricting their own sales… Seems illogical, I get business is more complicated than that, but with so many people going to be struggling to get this, it is no wonder they aren’t profiting, people are getting tired of having to be 100% alert 24/7 to see if it is up for order, or in their local store, so people lose interest and stop collecting.

I should imagine both. A shop’s allocation is only going to be ONE Set if they only have 600 in? If they sell 300 Online & 300 in shops (At one a shop) then that’s the 600 over & done with!

The first doctor had the monk

And the eighth doctor had the master and the sisters of karn.

The Sister’s Of Karn are affiliated with the but not TimeLord’s themselves to be fair, as for the War Doctor I think I’d rather have The General with swappable heads

Just out of curiosity, if we were to get a monsters version of this with a certain villain or monster for each Doctor (either a rerelease or totally new figure) what would everyone’s dream line up be??

Don’t give them any ideas! It’s hard enough trying to get this Doctor’s Set.

If we’re talking one baddie from each Doctor then,

      The Celestial Toymaker
      Salamander
      The Brigade Leader
      Meglos
      The Black Guardian
      The Valeyard
      The Chief Clown
      Eric Roberts’ Master
      Margaret Slitheen
      Young Professor Lazarus
      Soloman
      Half-Face Man

I’d replace Solomon with Dr Simeon/the Great Intelligence.

I really want this! I was thinking of getting this for Christmas but then there is all of the other new doctor who figures and the doctor who origami book + lots of really cheap discontinued figures from eBay as well – just too much! *sigh* Something isn’t going to make the cut 🙂

Looks better in hand. 9’s jacket looks amazing. Just like leather. And 10 will surprise you in hand also.

I think it’s 9’s eyebrows in all of the promo pictures.. They seem really off!

It’s a possibility. There is only 600 sets at Toys R Us for all the U.K. I bet those sell.
