Quite a few people in the UK appear to have ordered in from Calendars and gotten it without any customs charge…. and for about £100

That’s a relief! Now we just have to worry about the price and whether we’ll all be able to get one – especially if there’s only 4 per store!

Why would there only be four

    • CybermanBill

There is only 4 per store because of the limited number of boxes.

Got my set through the post yesterday thanks to the heads up here with the Calendar.com discount. All in it cost me about £105 and there were no import charges! Don’t know if I got lucky, will kick myself if it is released in this country at the £80 mark but for the moment I’m a happy chappy!

Toys r us have now said they are definitely getting this set by the way, due in stores beginning October, no word on price or on-line availability.

as for customs, luck of the drawer or how clear (or accurate!) the declared value is, thinking back though once i did get an invoice for charges from UPS i think after the item had been delivered

      September 6th, 2016 - 10:07pm

Hang on, 600? Maybe the UK won’t get it, but it just makes no sense. Why would we not get it? SDCC/US sets eventually came to the UK. A few diamond classic re-releases didn’t make it but they were re-releases with a few tweaks, a few eventually ended up in the UK via eBay, The Who Shop etc. I just don’t get it

I’ve seen a set on Ebay for around £150 which includes import fees (the seller seems to have multiple sets) And i’m just wondering if I should go for it. Reasons being…

    1. Uncertainty of this set reaching the UK – Other figures from Underground Toys never did such as Diamond package regen 4th Dr and Hologram 10th Dr. Plus some of the recent collector series re-releases.

    2. If it was to hit the UK, the price may not be that far off this price on Ebay, so could be worth the extra few pounds to ensure I get a set.

What are people’s thoughts? Like I say he has a few of these so other people may want to consider this.

its just an unknown, to a certain extent i can see why the others didn’t get to then UK, they had already been sold as exclusives here already technically, even though the diamond versions were variants and would still sell now.

That hasn’t stopped them before though, mind goes back to the Eternal and Stone Daleks that were supposed to be set exclusives but got a single release

If this set doesn’t make it to the UK then it brings into question if anything will in the future.

It it makes it to the UK and is £100 then you could be £50 out of pocket that’s the only issue really, safe or sorry.

    August 29th, 2016 - 12:17pm

From looking at this one on eBay US 252508973906 the total cost to get in to the UK including import charges would be total 185.70 with Royal Mail handling fees.

Would probably only expect the cost to be 120.00-150.00 when the set hits the UK?

I think the figures all need repackaging as individual items and selling at about 8 quid a time with previous figures from the 5 inch fingers range Id buy scaroth, the damaged ‘attack’ cyberman, and sharaz jek as they were packaged with items I didn’t want that had already been released before.

Unbelievable, isn’t it? Calendars may be offering this discount because a significantly bulky item based on a foreign TV property isn’t shifting that well with their mainstream US cusomer base, whilst in the meantime there are hundreds, possibly thousands of collectors over here crying out for the opportunity to purchase it. And I bet this set would sell a fair few with the family market here if it had any sort of high street presence.

It’s like the exclusive 3.75 variants or the NOTD 8th situation all over again – UK fans having to go on ebay to get them for significantly more than the RRP, whilst in the meantime they’re warming pegs and gathering dust with American retailers to the point they’re practically being offered on clearance. Given the way the BBC’s funded, there’s something fundamentally wrong about that situation.

      August 25th, 2016 - 4:54pm

this offer is site wide though, they often do this

but then i can see where you are coming from

    • Anonymous

      August 27th, 2016 - 10:51pm

Be careful with Calendars.Com they put the FULL Retail Price on any items you order from them regardless of the price you paid. If you buy something for $29.99 that originally cost $40, $40 is what they put on the Customs documents. They are the ONLY US company I have dealt with that continually refuse to put the correct prices on items for what they sold for!

  • AngryDrashig

    August 24th, 2016 - 2:44pm

They ought to put the Pertwee figure, which shines out from that box as the gem of the set, in a box with omega and a gell guard then sell it at B and M now that would be worth having, even though I have two of the gellguards already. They could even package the figures of the first three Doctors in that box and it’d still be worth buying at B and M prices.

I completely agree! I really only want 3 but would love 1, 2 and 3 and possibly 6 – they could do him with a rerelease with a Earthshock cyberman and peri possibly or sil or something.

For the second doctor they could rerelease a sontaran or dalek or something.

  • AngryDrashig

last year FP changed policy after the white shirt 12th and only put the 5.5″ collectors series up for order when it was on stock or only a few days away

I suspect it will be the same here, assuming they are getting it, toys r us are unknown, last word was no, but if they do get it the delivery will arrive with them when they want even though it may have been available to them sooner.

    • AngryDrashig

      August 24th, 2016 - 2:32pm

Fortunately I don’t want – this set all my previous Doctors are wrapped up and put away in need of shelf space so I dont want anymore especially when only one figure ( to me) in the box might be worth having. However I did want the topps cards – a lot – so I know how anyone who wants merchandise available on in the US feels, especially as the scraps we get are usually overpriced or we have to suffer the slings and arrows of customs charges. Fair enough when it’s a US series like Star Trek or The Outer Limits you want collectors stuff from but when its a home grown shown it’s stretching a joke. Personally I think the BBC should be insisting a licence to a USA or even UK manufacturer comes on the condition stuff be made available in the UK as well as overseas.
